"Somehow, someday" means in the future, i.e. that I admit I have a problem but I know I can get over it in the long run. That's different to being able to control it and enjoy it and not having a problem in the first place.Drofder2004 wrote:The idea that somehow, someday he will control and enjoy his drinking is the great obsession of every abnormal drinker. kind of interesting - in my opinion - how the thread got from"New Mouse?" to "Drinking problems and how to get over them"
i was hammered yesterday. and i will be tomorrow. does that make me an addict? Nope, it doesn't. i just enjoy having some fun, and drinking is fun to me... but addiction is, when the funny things stop being funny, and you end up at sleeping on sidewalks...
cheers

"idea" - You think you can control, therefore the idea of control. Repeating and believing it is the "great obsession".Pedsdude wrote:"Somehow, someday" means in the future, i.e. that I admit I have a problem but I know I can get over it in the long run. The quote in literal meaning is not the same as intended meaning.
The intended meaning is:
"Thinking you can enjoy yet have control of drinking, is something a abnormal drinker will believe. The constant belief is astonishing. Many will continue this belief of control until they die or become insane"
You are an abnormal drinker, you are not an alcoholic as you do not depend on alcohol, you drink when you go out, you go out on different occasions. If you feel you need a drink to have a better time than you would without, then there is your control problem.
Don't worry, I don't believe you will become an alcoholic, but admitting your problem is the first step to solving it...

Virgin Media 20Mb Broadband:
"Perfect for families going online at the same time, downloading movies, online gaming and more."

How do you know what the intended meaning is? That's only your personal interpretation of it, which is different to the more obvious interpretation...Drofder2004 wrote:"idea" - You think you can control, therefore the idea of control. Repeating and believing it is the "great obsession".

If you don't believe I will become an alcoholic, then what's my problem that I should admit to? ...
I piss off bridges into the River Thames, is that enough?JDogg wrote:Meh leave Peds alone!. If he gets drunk one day and falls off a bridge, surely one of you guys will become admins, so I don't see why you aren't encouraging it.
But seriously, as long as you don't get yourself killed or wake up in some guys bed, you're fine
Went out tonight, it's now 7am and I have to get a bus to Newcastle from London (6 and a half hour journey) in 2 hour's time - I'm not getting any sleep

In total, I'll have been out drinking 4 times this week, although that's only because my best friend is going to Australia and I won't see him until June, so me and some friends are giving him going away nights out (2 in London, 1 in Newcastle, the one tonight was just general Friday night out which I have every week!).
