Not for CoD games.
I believe there is a bsp decompiler for the old quakes, and that is it.
BSP decompiling is as legal as reverse engineering.

Just wondering are you saying it is legal or illegal because I know in the usa the dmca of 1998 states that there are cases in which it is legal to reverse engineer software? I would assume that a decompiler would be treated the same way making it legal.Drofder2004 wrote:Not for CoD games.

Fecking hell, somebody give this guy a cookie, or better yet, give him Peds' university place :pKillerSam wrote:he is saying it is on par "same legality as" - since illegal and legal are both measures of the same thing - by saying "as illegal" or "as legal" doesnt matter
Anyways, by "as legal as reverse engineering", I meant in terms of CoD not general.
Anything which you have no permission to "RE" is illegal to do so, it is the same as bsps.

KS That really just confused me and I am lost, but I will take that cookie off your hands
anyways in the usa as stated by the dmca
Reverse engineering (section 1201(f)). This exception permits
circumvention, and the development of technological means for such
circumvention, by a person who has lawfully obtained a right to use a
copy of a computer program for the sole purpose of identifying and
analyzing elements of the program necessary to achieve interoperability
with other programs, to the extent that such acts are permitted under
copyright law.
but the uk laws are probably different, so if u ever need to decompile something get a usa guy to do it
I feel like a smart person now, do I get that cookie yet?

You cannot legally reverse engineer a piece of software you do not own the copyright to or have permission to do so. Whether you are a US citizen or not, it is illegal. It also is not dependant of country as copyright laws will exist in all countries.
