Amazing performance by NiN
I'm getting my ticket for next years this week. I hope NiN are headlining next year, would be amazing but I don't think they'll play there two years running ;( With any luck RATM will be playing. The cunts need to release the information for next years sooner ;(

lol how can you complain about tuning? :S I'm sure most of their songs are drop D, which is hardly a problem tuning to. If you can't tune to D by ear . More common bands like Guns n Roses have more awkward tuning (everything dropped half a step)..
Joe Satriani's stuff is okay, but the amount of effects he uses is depressing..

Well, im not really complaining about drop tuning only thing is that i dont really like the very low drops like C drops ore anything like that.
Actually he doenst have that much of effects, just the standard thinks like a wahwah, distortion pedal, delay, chorus, its very standard. You think thats very much because your typ of bands/sound is more based on the distorion side of music, and chorus and delay are more effects for clean and relaxed numbers. Also most of his wierd sounds are just techniques that takes some time to practice. Its just part of what type of music youre playing. And he is just the guitar player of the guitar players so that also counts
And also, im a big Satriani fan, i even got his signature guitar, its a great one exctually. Click here!

Well, he uses alot of compression as well for his solos on some songs, and tbh, anyone can use delay and sound good on a guitar. Paul Gilbert is a much better musician, and John Petrucci is much better live than satch.
In my opinion Drop D is the best tuning... you can do so much more with drop D. I don't just mean for metal orientated songs. I've wrote a few indie/rock songs that can only be played with drop D. The only times I don't use it, is if i'm doing something with normal chords (that need E tuning).
I do agree that Drop C/B is abit excessive, but it suits its purpose, mainly for Death Metal... so you need it to be low

Paul Gilbert is ok, but he is just like petruci one of the milion, look how fast i can pick these notes guitar players. Satriani has a way beter teqniques like pick axis picking and more like that, just sounds 100 times better. And he was also a teacher and leared Steve Vai, a very known and excellent player, how to play gutiar. And satriani cant play live?!?! Beter you watch the Satriani LIVE! DVD if you dont think thats good, you cant call yourself a guitarplayer.
And about that compression, about what songs are you talking, live ore record? IMO he is live better then recorded because of the sounds, but that's because most of his albums are very old, its just a very old sound, and sometimes bad recorded. Besides of that, he is just the best.

One of my fav part of that specific song is starting at 1:50. And at 3:50 upwards is also pretty neat.

If you read what I said, I said he's not as good as Petrucci or Gilbert live - which is undeniable. Petrucci in DT is so tight live, and can actually play what he played in the studio..live. I know Satch can, but his stuff ain't as difficult to play.All-Killer wrote:And satriani cant play live?!?! Beter you watch the Satriani LIVE! If you only think Paul Gilbert is "okay", i'm guessing you havn't learnt any. Most of his solo's are much harder because they're not just fast alternate picking, but he skips strings, which is incredibly hard at that speed..
can't remember what songs^^
