Hi everyone --

It's me again, from CoDHQ.com - I just wanted to share with you what I am preparing for my own community. I want to lay to rest all the arguments, accusations, allegations, and other cool words that are found at the beginning of the alphabet!

Will CoD4 be available for PC?

Yes. It will be designed for PC fans. The only reason CoD2 was made for consoles then ported to PC was because Infinity Ward had to hit a deadline; the launch of the Xbox 360 so it could be a launch title. They don't have that deadline this time, so can focus more on the PC fans who they know feel left out.

Will CoD4 run on Vista?

Absolutely. Infinity Ward is well-aware of the new OS, and have been for years. They are intelligent people who can foresee how popular an OS will be by the time they launch their game, so will definitely have it fully-functional running on Vista. Whether or not it will be DX10 supported is another story, but it will certainly be Vista supported.

Why did you let Treyarch develop CoD3?

It's more than that. Activision owns the franchise. Activision is the one who "let" Treyarch develop CoD3, not Infinity Ward. It should be obvious that Activision and Infinity Ward wanted to develop CoD4 concurrently with CoD3 so that it could be released a year apart rather than 3.

When will CoD4 be released?

There is no official release date, and you'd think people would stop asking this question after the millionth time they've gotten the same response. No official release date will be stated until the game goes gold. But it is safe to assume, regardless of the rumors that are going around, that Infinity Ward is looking to release this title this fall, likely in November. It lines up with the 1 year anniversary of the CoD3 launch on the 360, and all CoD titles have been released in that September-December window. There is no way this game has another full year of development, so logical conclusion is: it is coming THIS Fall.

Will CoD4 be available for Mac / Linux fans?

Most likely, yes. It probably won't be for launch, but just like the previous titles, Aspyr will work to port it to Mac users. Official word from Infinity Ward? No official confirmation has been given yet.

Will there be new gametypes?

I can't believe this question was actually asked... OF COURSE there will be new gametypes. There will likely be many of the existing ones still in the game, and most certainly new ones. We don't even need to wait for confirmation from the developers to figure that out.

Will there be online / offline co-op?

I asked Grant this during one of my interviews with him, and he failed to comment on it. My personal belief is there MAY be. There won't be official confirmation for a while, so you can stop asking it. But there is a fair chance there will be some form of co-op play, as they know it is a big part to gaming that fans love. It's what made Gears of War so successful.

Will there be anti-cheat out of the box?

No official comment on this one either. But my speculation is, yes there will be. It probably won't be PunkBuster, because Infinity Ward and pundits commented on how it affects the smoothness of gameplay, but an in-house anti-cheat system developed by Infinity Ward is of high probability (much like the VAC for the Half-Life games). We all know that VAC works for Valve, so there is no reason to underestimate Infinity Ward's ability to do the same with CoD4. They won't make the same mistake.... 3 times... so I am confident there will be anti-cheat out of the box.

I see "November" in the header of this site!!!

Yeah yeah, we know. Search around and you can read all the rumors associated with it. The best answer is, it is just a coincidence, because it is part of the phonetic alphabet of military terms that represents the letter 'N'. However, if you read the above FAQ about the release date, it is true that the game will be released around that time frame, yes.

That's about all we know / I am comfortable to speculate about for now. Go ahead, ask away all your individual questions about the details of the game, but know that 99% of them will go unanswered. Why do they go unanswered? Because Infinity Ward is under contractual agreements with Activision not to reveal information unless Activision deems it appropriate. That, and Infinity Ward doesn't want to ruin the surprise. How fun would it be to see a movie if the entire plot and the whole story was described to you in vivid detail before the movie even launched?

I hope this helped.

Regards,
-JD

THE THE CALL OF DUTY series has been a critical and financial success for Activision and Infinity Ward. The first trailer for Call of Duty 4, however, shows something of a departure - the game takes place in the modern day.

Previous CoD games have all been set in World War 2, with plenty of authentic German and French locations. The series is noted for its squad-based missions which have strong storytelling elements, making them a favourite amongst both gamers who like their shooters intense and those who like them with a little bit of purpose and pathos.

CoD 4 is going to be available for both the PS3 and the Xbox 360, and you can check out the 720p HD trailer here. Whilst the series shot to fame on the PC, this version, like CoD3, will be console only. Which sucks.

The game aims to bring this unique brand of storytelling to a modern combat scenario, with the setting looking like the Middle East. Whilst topical, this is hardly inspired. The in-game graphics are looking pretty fancy, whilst the Evil Terrorist Scumâ„¢ look suitably evil.

Expect a nice array of modern weaponry, some rope-slinging from helicopters, hostage rescues and goodness knows what else. We're hoping CoD 4 will be out in time for us to gun some Arabs down over Chrimbo.
If that's true, [SoE] will most likely be changing to MoH:Airborne

The Inquirer is a very unreliable site, lots of bullshit being published.. But theyre telling the truth on occasion though ;)

I wouldn't trust codhq all that much, what he is saying is just from his own view of what he thinks is going to happen.

Hi everyone,

I run Call of Duty HQ (http://www.codhq.com) and have gotten hundreds of e-mails and everywhere I turn there are people questioning whether or not this will be release for PC users.

Well I can tell you is from first-hand verbal verification from Grant Collier himself, during my interview with him last year:

Snippet from my article:
As it is, we've got a lot more information. Call of Duty 3 for consoles-only, confirmed. Call of Duty 4, will be available on the PC, and is confirmed...
Remember, that interview took place before CoD3 was even released, which is why it mentions CoD3 was for consoles only, and we all know that statement was accurate. I think you all can rest your minds and take comfort knowing Call of Duty 4 WILL be available on the PC.

you realize how easy that can be photoshopped? I have seen this picture on a few other sites that claim this to be false.

I am aware of the claims that the picture is fake, hence I've included a post by the owner of codhq.com ;)

Having said that, I also believe that I saw the website page of that image the other day (before they apparantly took it down). I'm not 100% sure, but I'm almost certain that I did go on the page and that it did say PC.

The image is NOT photoshopped. The source of the image is "Rudedog" (Runs http://www.fpsadmin.com & http://www.fpsgameforums.com/)

The image was grabbed before Activision pulled it down (very soon after its discovery).

Also, take what the CoDHQ guy said with a grain of salt. No information has been released and anything which he has been "told" is neither official or confirmed.
