xbox 360 price drop expected SOON?!?!?

Hi all, ive been doing some research via internet and i have some evidence that the xbox 360 just might be getting a huge price drop.

1stly, to contend with ps3. once sales of ps3 start coming round, then xbox 360s will probably drop.

2ndly, For more sales. Now ps3s are getting all the attention, xbox 360s must do something to battle against ps3 and wii.

3rdly, Ive heard the price for production could drop about 20%. This is something to do with defects and shipping or something like that, i cant remember.

But already, a shop, makro, are selling xbox 360 PREMIUMS for under 200 quid.

Talk of a new xbox 360 in black with a hdd of 120gb is buzzing around.

So premiums will take the position of cores, cores wont be producted, and black 360s will be the new PREMIUM-PREMIUM-thing.

Am i right in thinking this? surely they must price drop soon. They havent gone down since launch 1 and a quarter years ago.

Any comments welcome

mh my friend want to buy or have to buy the new Xbox360 when Halo3 is released; so i hope the prices will drop down

The halo 3 yes i forgot that! i will definately get for just halo 3 lol

But im sure the best deal they will come with will be the black 360 with 120 gig hard rive and halo 3 (plus all original accessories) for about 299 pound minimum

I personally would doubt that price of the Xbox 360 would drop any time soon. With the exception of special promotions. After Christmas they were $100 off for a couple days at various retailers. I would think it is safe to say that the new "Zephyr" (black) 360, if it actually comes out will rather be at the same price point as the 60GB PS3.
Getting rid of the core system makes it look less reasonable to parents, and with the announcement of the 512MB memory unit, it wouldn't make sense to produce that if they were going to nix the core package.
Don't get me wrong it would be awesome if the price went down, I'd probably buy another system, to make it more convenient to have lan parties. And to say the 360 has nothing going for it sounds a little off. It's software collection is larger. It has several exclusives, and is slowly stealing the PS3's exclusives away from it. Don't forget Halo 3 with it's anticipated September release (Which I see you haven't), if Gears of War sold consoles, which it sold a few, Halo 3 will most likely do so as well; with those extra weeks of shelf time before the holiday rush.

Don't get me wrong, the PS3 has lots of things going for it, like Potential as the Pres of SCEA says in his recent EGM interview. But with all of the happenings surrounding SCEA, I think they need to get back into touch with their audience. The lawsuits over selling JP PsPs in Europe. Why would the prevent a system that is failing from being sold? They need to get it in the hands of the consumer any which way they can.
If Sony can get their online component together, and continue to not charge for it, release maybe two must have killer apps for the Holidays, and maybe bundle the system with something extra around the holidays, say maybe another control and the all important HDMI cable, then you would have a solid system.

I'm awaiting a significant drop in the price level of the PS3 by... hmm.... around Â£250 lol

The price wont drop probably. May be some retailer bundle packages, but haven't heard that the unit itself would cost less. Maybe after 2007

Lets say I wouldnt buy a 360 if it cost 100Â£ less. But i definetely would not buy a PS3 I it cost 4 times less than it does. WII is decent. never had a chance to play with it tho.

Out of all the games consoles out so far, he best in my eyes is the xbox 360. Its just i cant afford one, so if it had dropped, say...70 pounds, theni would buy one definately.
