Yep. I had to put in my msn name that it wasn't Jurassic Park cause a number of thickshits messaged me asking about the 'film' Jurassic 5.

Jurassic 5 formed before the original Jurassic Park movie came out, so there.

lyrics is a big part of the music i listen to, i just dont find rap to be music. Music requires a certain number of things to be music in my opinion, and rap lacks most of them (ie: voice talent, instrument skill, etc.)

[Jurassic 5]
Yo, we are no superstars
Who wanna be large and forget who we are
Don't judge us by bank accounts and big cars
No matter how bright we shine we're far from being stars
Cause stars fall, and disintigrate before they hit the
Asfalt, they incinerate cause we came
Not to destroy the law but to fulfill
For those who appreciate those with skills
And fresh windmills, and graf that kills
What is a DJ without the scratch to build?
Without the elements, it's all irrelevant
Niggas love to Freestyle but hate the Fellowship

Jurassic 5 is known for:

* A no-frills ethos musical approach that evokes old school hip hop.
* Tag-team delivery, with the four MCs trading off lyrics (finishing one another's sentences, speaking words one after the other, and so on) and harmonizing on choruses to the point where they have been likened to a hip-hop barbershop quartet.
* Primarily positive and inventive lyrics, interspersed with self-promotion and social commentary.

Jurassic 5 are well known for thought-provoking lyrics as opposed to your average "fuck yo ma" lyrics you see a lot in rap today. They're more hip-hop than rap; not all rap is the 'shooting' type to use the term loosely.

The best Jurassic 5 song of all time, which even people who don't like 'rap' might still appreciate:

I think people are generalising rap. Like rock has several sub-levels (gothic, punk, alternate), rap is very similar, and whenever we here rap we always presume "50 Cent" 'Gangsta' Rap.

For example, a very well known group but people do not realise they are "rapping" are "The Streets" who imo are very talented.

there are several types of rap like I said, to names some...
- Alternative
- Garage
- Gangsta
- Funk

I have not listened to Jurassic 5 sa of yet, but I will do when I get hold of their album/s, but from a guess from their style of lyrics this is alternative rap, which I do not mind.

i, personally, am not stereotyping to one specifc type. I am saying that i dislike rap and disbelieve its catagorization as music. (This is including actual good lyrical rap songs)

Yep, not trying to change any opinions or anything, just pointing out what people seem to believe the word rap implies.

Indeed, as soon as I mention that Jurassic 5 are rap a lot of people are put off from listening to them.

Having said that, I do like Snoop Doggs songs too ;) Although I do not like ALL rap, for example a lot of 50 Cent I can't stand and I'm not too keen on the songs where they shout the words all the time. e.g. Lil John.

If you want to get a good impression of Jurassic 5 then I suggest you watch the following videos:
