Changing A .dm_3 file to avi or anything

i was wondering wot program to use to convert a .dm_3 file to avi mpeg or anything, something so i can modify to make into a movie, like the cod jumpers movies.... yes yes i am noob so any help on were to get such a program or just a link to another part of the forum would b muchly apriciated. thanks a tone to any1 that helps me
