Starting own devmap
Is there any possible way that I can start up my own server and have people join with me?

Yeah, sorry Drofder but simple guide, that aint! I am completely computer illiterate and don't have a scoobie what you're going on about - although I am sure it is extremely comprehensive.
I used to have a modem attaching directly to the internet which meant I could start a map, hand out my IP address and others could join.
Now that I have a Netgear router, no one can connect. I am pretty sure that it has something to do with freeing up ports but when I went into the router, there were a number of complicated settings that I was advised not to change unless I knew what was what. Scared me off!
Can anyone point me in the right direction. I am after the 'Dummies guide' version rather than a 'Technical manual' that assumes some working knowledge.

yes, i believe you would need to open the ports. If you log into your router administration you should be able to find an option for something like opening ports, then you just open the ports that call of duty uses. Unfortunately, i can give you no specific details because i dont know the password to my router.
