There's a line between sport and game. Depending on where you get your definitions for each will determine whether you can call chess a sport or "just a game". There are valid points to both sides of the chess being a sport or game argument so it's up to you I guess.

I would agree.

A sport is defined by physical exertion. So, by definition chess is not a sport.
However, chess is on the list of sports agreed by the International Olympic Committee.

The closest major dictionary definition that allows for Chess to be partially considered a sport is the Collins Dictionary:

3. any particular pastime indulged in for pleasure

However, it is incredibly loose for a definition and does not allow for the inclusion of competitive nature of chess (not always played for pleasure).

Also:
eSports are a totally different word to "sport".
eSport is to sport as the email is to mail.
