Call of Duty 1 Menu problem

Post by ThaWalrus » September 20th, 2011, 9:11 pm

Hi all,

I have Call of Duty since 2004, and bought a new one some time ago.

I have installed the new CoD, on a pc and it was no problem.

Now, i installed it again on a laptop, but it won't load the menu text. So the links are there, like Join game, settings, mp settings etc. but it is invisible. Theres no problem with my other pc running cod.

Here is some laptop information:
Gigabyte GR8
Graphics Card: ATI MOBILITY RADEON x700
Processor : Intel Pentium M 750 @ 1866MHz
Chipset : Intel i910GML/i915GMS
RAM: 1 GB

I tried opening the console and it brings the console down, without any text. So, actually cod runs without any text or introduction video.

I searched the internet for an driver-update (For the graphics card) but couldnt find one :(.

Somebody any ideas?
Any help is welcome!

Greats,
Maikel!

I found this on the web, it's for MW2 but I think it's a graphics card related problem so the game shouldn't matter;

Code: Select all

Worked for me too, but it took a fair amount of dicking around before I could get it working... but thanks a million for the tips, everyone!

To make things perfectly clear for future readers, here's exactly what I did:

First off, my system configuration:

MacBook Pro "17 2.3 ghz (ATI X1600 graphics card)
Bootcamp 3.2
Windows 7

The last post was correct - you have to make sure your card is included in the package, and it wasn't in the 'windows 7' packages: I had to go to the 'Legacy' section (where there is no official Windows 7 support) and download the same package as the post above (http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/w ... ng=English) - Vista is the only option (other than XP), but it works fine.

That downloaded and installed, I went to Start => (right click) Computer => Manage, then selected 'Device manager' from the list to the left in the window that appears. Expand 'Display adapters' and right-click on the card below it and select 'update driver Software'.

Now hit "Browse my computer for driver Software" then "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" - IGNORE the subwindow (with the 'show compatible hardware' above it) and hit "Have Disk" (MS 'Haz Cheesburger' english?) and browse to where you installed your driver download (for me it was C:/ATI/Support/10-02_legacy_vista32-64_dd_ccc/Packages/Drivers/Display/LH_INF/CL_95951(.inf) ) and hit 'ok' - the list of drivers should appear in the box you ignored earlier, so choose "Radeon X1600 series" (around 2/3 down the looooong list) and hit 'next'. You will get a warning about Windows being "unsure" about the driver, but hit "yes" and, after a short wait, your driver will be installed. Reboot, and light up COD MW 2... see you online ; )
Let me know if it helped

Hey,

Thanks for trying to help me, but actually it didnt help me at all.

I reinstalled the game 3 times, and witout any effect. So i really tought it was the problem of my graphics card.

Then i thought about just copieng the files again and tried that.

This worked, i copied all dll files to my pc from cd manually, although it was all installed there already. Then i copied sll pk3 files into the main folder. By surprise it helped and i ciuld start the game witout any problem!!

Finally back to gaming!

Thx for trying to help me.

Greats Maikel!
