How can redirecting be done without paying for a website?

It can't, unless you pay for redirect hosting as part of your gameserver package.

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is just a process you use to access (upload/download to/from) your hosting space.

I know what ftp is, but ive seen people using its as a way to redirect instead of downloading from the server, so there pretty much no way of redirecting for free?

I looked into this a while ago but never tried it myself...
Had this link saved: http://forum.filezilla-project.org/view ... f=6&t=9922 (Not me posting - Just from google)
A guy says you can use FTP like this in the config:
Never tested it so not sure what you could expect with it but worth a try I guess.
// May just be easier to get some hosting though.

Dank, could you tell me if it works or not when you try it? I'd be very interested to know.

You realise that by using that people will be able to see your username and password, and therefore be able to delete/upload files to the host?

If you have FTP, then you have an IP. And if you an IP then you have a server. If you have a server, then you have a potential redirect.
you should be able to simply setup the permission (access/read) for the ftp file structure and then just point the redirect at the IP?

I've never set this up, but I cannot see what difference this would be.
