Black Ops Mod Tools Release

Post by F |Madness| U » May 28th, 2011, 6:17 pm

Hey guys,

We have begun updating wiki.treyarch.com with details on the Mod Tools BETA, which will be releasing Tuesday, May 31st on Steam.

I wanted to highlight here some of the things included in the package:

• Launcher.
• Asset Manager.
• EffectsEd.
• AssetViewer.
• Maya 2009 Exporter Plugins.
• Reference materials: Maya src files, scripts, example mods, xmodel exports, texture assets.

The PC team is still investigating the potential release of Radiant. I'll be sure to update you when I know more.

Regards,
-JD
Does anybody who is familiar with mod tools know if the things included are good enough to make mods similar to CoD4 standards? I'm just hoping for Radiant to be released really.

If they don't include Radiant, fuck them.

Totaly agree, mappers and modders get the short end of the stick lately.

You can make mods, custom models(weapons/characters) and create effects but no map making.

Without custom maps, what is the point of mods?

Also, I will not be adapting the CoDJumper mod for this game, there would be no point without custom maps.

Kind of silly to expect radiant really since they have paid DLC.

Also, I would laugh so fucking much if the real thing will come with a price (Hell, even the beta  ).

I'm actually hoping someone makes a mod, changes a bunch of settings so we can get, hopefully, a decent FPS.

Yeah this I would look forward to mostly, aswell as custom maps.

And what I meant by what this means in terms of modding, I mean from that given list, will the modding capabilites be as good as CoD4? (Except no radiant). Because from what I heard WaW modding was shitty compared to CoD4.

Perhaps they're worried that if they release map editing tools, people will make the DLC maps :P

Just make a remake of Carentan and Brecourt then you would have 50% of the DLC maps :)
