Im new to mapping and am tring to compile my first test map.
Ive checked for leaks and checked all surfaces have texture on them.
Have all 3 tdm spawn points and a global intermision.
On Build Fast File I get and unrecoverable error that it cant load mp_test2.d3dbsp file.
Going back to Compile BSP I found:
At the end of compile BSP it comes up "DONE" but i notice a couple lines above "Could not load file "C:\users\B\Desktop\Cal of Duty 1.7\raw\maps\mp\mp_test2.d3dbsp"
So I've looked inthe folder and its not there.
Any ideas why Complile is not creating this file?

Re: BSP Compile Error
After a bit of trial n error im finding it happens to all .map maps i create, I can run the sample 1's that came through compile with the mod but as soon as I create 1 or even rename 1 im getting this issue.
Could it be something to do with XP? as I had to run the .exe files as administrator just to get them to run.
Is it like a normal programing language where you need to start a new project then add a .map to it?

Re: BSP Compile Error
Ive loaded everything on to another comp at home and seems to run further till the video card tops out, so the Q may of changed unless some1 has and answer to the BSP issue.
With the current Q I think coming back to it wont run with Vista 64 too well in its current config.
So another Q within a Q:
What OS are ppl running these days when mapping? Is anyone using Windows7? or is there a better older OS that ppl are using to map on?
The main system im running is a 64bit Vista, the game-comp and thats the one playing up.
The back up system is a 32bit Vista which I feel handles Radiant better, but wont run Cod4 due to lack of video.

Re: BSP Compile Error
First off you should definitely switch to either XP or Windows 7 as they're much better with Radiant. As to your compiling question, I'm pretty sure I've had this error myself at one point. I'm pretty sure it happens when you rename a .map file and then try to recompile. As for the fix, I have no clue.

Re: BSP Compile Error
Windows7 64bit - XP before that.
Never touched Vista, never will.
Have you tried creating a map from scratch to test?
- Skybox
- Intermission
- DM & TDM Spawn Points
- 1 Reflection probe
- Basic GSC Files
- Zone file
Make sure at the very least, you have done the above.

Re: BSP Compile Error
Ok, an update on this error for any1 else that may get it.
Tried:
All minimun requirements for a mp map, spawns, skybox etc.
Went out and got Win7 64bit.
Loaded everything up the same and still getting error.
Solution:
Run Cod4 1.7 from default dir, then install Modtools to that dir.
On my system I was running 1.0 out of the default dir and had a copy on desktop which I upgraded to 1.7, where I tried to run modtools off.
Once I reinstalled them with 1.7 in the default dir and put 1.0 on the desktop copy this error was gone.
Thanks for you help with going to Win7, heaps better.

Re: BSP Compile Error
I dont think this is the cause of the problem.
I have always run a "desktop" install for all versions of CoD and run modtools on them with no errors.
Somewhere along the lines, you have a config or setup error and I would guess simply backing up files and deleting the data would have most likely solved this.
