It is certainly all of those things tbh...there is no getting away from it.
If you consider people being run over, "remarkable", your vocabulary must be suffering.

"Remarkable" is used in sentences in place of "interesting", "wonderful", "exceptional".
Often, the word will be used in documentaries, where something has never been seen before, i.e exploring the deeps of an ocean, you may find many "remarkable" creatures.

To label injury, death, violence or similar "remarkable" is an just short of stupidity.

Would you label the beheading of a hostage, the stoning of a young girl or the stabbing of a pregnant woman "remarkable"?
These also fit into the above defintions...

Its called context and by posting a standard definition and simply trying to apply the rules to just words is not going to work.
