nvlddmkm

Post by Hoogie » October 31st, 2010, 8:43 pm

I know what you thinking, another error? Unfortunately yes..

Every time i play CoD4 the screen becomes black and the game stops for +/- 15 seconds.
And i get the message: Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding, but has succesfully recovered.
This process keeps repeating his self until either blue screen ends it or i quit the game.

This suddenly started happening to me yesterday.

What i have tried:
- Updating drivers
- Using another input/output cable
- Checked if my graphics card was plugged in well
- Looked everywhere on internet

Found this:
1. Download the latest driver version and extract the contents of the .exe file (this should happen when you double click on the .exe, if not, use 7zip to extract it).
2. Rename your current nvlddmkm.sys file to nvlddmkm.sys.old.
3. Look for nvlddmkm.sy_ in the folder where you extracted the latest drivers.
4. Copy nvlddmkm.sy_ to WindowsSystem32drivers folder.
5. Open command prompt in Administrator mode (start menu->programs->accessories->right click command prompt->Run as Administrator).
6. Navigate to your WindowsSystem32drivers folder. (example cd C:WindowsSystem32drivers)
7. Type expand nvlddmkm.sy_ nvlddmkm.sys
8. Reboot computer.

But that didn't work.

Who can help me out here?

Did you uninstall all old drivers first? Right click on your gfx card in device manager and pick Uninstall. Then click remove drivers from system.
Reboot, watch for it to go to normal VGA driver, then install new driver.
LMGTFY!

Its not a glitch... Its the future!

There is a website devoted to the error:
http://www.nvlddmkm.com/

There are at least 12 solutions so far...
I would start there.

I saw this one. I've tried all the solutions that didn't require taking out parts of my PC. Nothing helped.

Sometimes those are the best solutions.
