Soooo Ive been playing cod4 just fine for a long time but now for some reason, every few second my frame rate drops from like 250 down to around 80-90 then back up again. Its not TERRIBLE but its enough to mess up any game and get me killed waaay too often.
Is there something i should reset in console?
Or jump to the reinstall :'( ?

I had that same problem but when i reinstalled windows everything was good again... probably a virus or antivirus fighting some software in the background!

Could be a punkbuster problem (I often get that lagspike every few seconds for like the first minute of opening CoD4, in which time Punkbuster is connecting or whatever it does).

I hadnt actually payed any attention to the duration of the skips.
Ill try seeing if it goes down or away after a few minutes of play, and make sure i close any unnecessary processes before starting.

I know, but I mean if there is a problem with his punkbuster (for whatever unknown reason) it could be continously trying to connect but not being able to, therefore continuously giving him lag spikes.
