Bad story?

The story is exactly the same.

Mum and son move house (original, they didn't move so far...)
Boy meets girl, and soon meets the boy who is jealous.
Other boy is taught in a non-conventional form of Karate which is violent.
Boy gets attacked.
Chinese bloke witnesses the beatings.
Chinese guy goes to Dojo.
Chinese guy then becomes the teacher.
Boy is taught using "every day skills" to adapt into Karate.
Boy enters tournament.
Boy gets seriously injured.
Boy continues with fight.
Boy wins with a kick.

The only difference between the two films was that the original was a more serious way of approaching the story, less comic and more drama. The new film was not as good, but it wasn't bad either.

Anyway, what i meant with it is that the "story" of that scene(didn't see the movie so can't judge over the rest) makes no sense.
