I do believe in this so called air strafing, because I tryed and tested it on peds propel.

I'll get 2 xfire videos showing the comparison.

EDIT: Both of these jumps are done with a constant 125 fps

Without `air strafing` http://www.xfire.com/video/26cebd/

With `air strafing` http://www.xfire.com/video/26cebc/

Maybe i missed something obvious thought idk.

You can't test this manual. You have to make a script so the actuall strafe is exactly the same and then just do the air strafing bit after it to see if it really goes further.

There is a good chance that the first time he did the bounce he got blocked a bit by the top of the bounce object. This happens to me all the time when i play mp_peds_propel. You have to bounec a bit sideways to avoid this. This doesn't mean it actually gets you further on a normal bounce.

Get me some solid proof and i'll believe this actually works.

Changing left and right I do not believe would work, but keeping at a constant angle and holding the strafe key and forward, I will take as a legitamate idea.

Either way, something works for me, because I've done that same jump many times and when I don't strafe in air I NEVER make it, and I've cleared the landing before by doing the air strafing technique.

So I agree with Matty, if you don't believe it works then don't do it :D

EDIT: Also, the slalom type of effect I did in mid-air may help, because on some racing games there is a technique called `snaking` where it is turning the car from side to side (much like I did in mid-air with my player) and you go noticeably faster, dunno if this would be in the quake engine or whatever but might be of some use.

Just through very basic thought, the reason for this would be the use of friction in racing games, being mid-air I doubt this would affect it, but there was a technique that I do not recall the name of, which was basically moving your mouse in a circle (imagine drawing a small circle around your crosshair using your cursor) which provided so very small but certainly evident extra speed...

This is certainly one idea, I would be willing to agree a possibility on, certainly more feasible than 'weapon-swapping'...

Actually Drofder, I am still undecided on the whole weapon switch theory. I can see how it would work, How I can also see how it's ridiculous. One Thing I know for sure, is that it is not a reasonable theory in use for ProMod. This may very well work in a normal server (no mods) or a mod that has different portability ratings. Promod does not have this. Rapidly switching to your sidearm may help you run faster briefly, although I am not sure when it takes into account that you have your side arm out. For example, Would it be as soon as I hit 1 (or weapnext key), or does it only change after the weapon is actually out.

However, For practical reasons, I believe that this is not possible in promod (as no portability ratings, all equal).

I don't really think this air strafing works  same as hoogie says : you can do a bounce on different places with different effects. But there is a possibility that this works.

Well even if it does (which I believer it does), its still pretty hard to use on most bounces in stock maps, because normally you have a very specific landing place, so its hard to do an `air-strafing` technique and still land where desired.
