Nice story lmfao!, I don't mind a bit of Jazz either, even some orchestral stuff to kick back with.
Going back about a page since this topic expanded faster than the population of 1000 rabbits with lots of food in a confined area during Spring.

Woah woah woah, hold on a second. I don't know what kind of crappy Trance you're listening to, but Electronic music is by no means bad. In fact, it is one of (if not the) most expansive genres of music out there.

Point proven*. Also, the majority of Electronic music produced is underground, not mainstream by any means, unless you're referring to someone like Tiesto, who of course produces the stuff you call "fucking annoying". As for the other stuff I agree. Two of my favorite bands are Queen and Zeppelin. I'll also listen to Classical sometimes when I map.

*Also, don't give me crap about the boring beginning and ending, that's done with electronic music so DJs can move seamlessly between songs
Electronic music isnt bad, but that doesnt mean everyone has to like it.. I couldnt care less about the genre.
Also. Instrumentally it can hardly be called music. Sure, its not easy to make, but its nowhere near as hard as playing the violin, guitar, piano, etc. (Just look at the amount of good dj's compared to other good musicians).
On the other hand, musically, its a lot better then a lot of the current popular bands. Ill use coldplay as an example, they make their songs and perform them on stage in a premade way. DJ's actually improvise during shows.

The fact that electronic music is the biggest growing genre doesnt really mean its good music.. Its a matter of what kind of music is provided..
Rap, hiphop and R&B are very popular as well, but would it also be popular if MTV wouldve never shown any interests in it and wouldve concentraded on E.G. metal? Im pretty sure metal would be the popular music of today.

It is true that electronic music takes less talent overall, but that isn't because the music is any less complex or hard to make, but it's because you do the majority of the work beforehand, only doing minor tweaks and mixes during the actual performance. I'd say an average electronic song takes at least a month of work to make, with a lot of hours put into it each week.

Also, "good DJ" is very relative. There are only 3 DJs that I can think of that I actually like (Dedmau5, Wolfgang Gartner, Mt Eden Dubstep). There is also the fact that not all electronic music is necessarily created by what I'd call DJs. For example, I wouldn't consider either Massive Attack (Trip-hop) or The Crystal Method (generally Techno) to be DJs, rather I'd consider them bands.

I also didn't mean to say it was the fastest growing, merely that it is constantly growing. It's been around since the '70s, and unlike most other genres that just "evolve", this one tends to branch out with new ideas and concepts. For example, you have rock, which people categorize as Classic Rock, Modern Rock, and perhaps a few others in between. However, to take one small branch of electronic music, you have the UK Garage Band style that came up about 20 years ago and tons of genres branched out of that one, including 2-step, 4x4, Bassline, Breakstep, Dubstep, and Grime.

As I said before, most people take Electronic music to mean Tisteoesque trance, which is overly simplistic and oftentimes dull and repetitive. However, all you have to do is search through a few of the other genres like Ambient, Dubstep, House, or even Techno and it's easy to see the vast differences. The hardest part is finding some of the more underground stuff, because if you just search Youtube for electronic music, you'll just come up with the typical Tiesto and Arman van Buren.

rofl, it'd be worthe a try, if i really cared weather or not people beleive me. honestly, even people i talk to at collage dont beleive me till they come to my house.

as for electronic, i rarely ever listen to that or jazz. it depends on my mood or what im doing. even after, they still dont . "oh, your dad baught you all this, yeah right i bet this is all this is from rent a center. and my favourite, whose house did you break into?

Im looking at the good dj thingy instrumentally based, in holland there are more people who are master of their turning table as there are guitarists who are master of their guitar. Purely instrumental, not music wise.
Even though you are right about the growth of the genre, I dont think you should compare electrical music with rock, but with guitar music in general. Guitar evolved in a lot of styles, like blues, jazz, country, folk, pop, rock and a lot more styles that im not familiar with. But that doesnt change much for the arguement :P

Unfortunately, Jimbo is right. You made an absolute statement, if you had set some type of conditions upon the statement or implied some sense of doubt within it, it would be a different story. However, you didn't. This is the internet, you can't hear inflections in people's voices, read body language, or even get across your ideas very well. Therefore, it makes perfect sense for Jimbo to take what you say at face value, because chances are if you go beyond that you'll be misinterpreting it.

Thought I responded to this post. That's some awesome Glitch, do you know of any other good songs? It's a genre I really like but it is hard to find any music for it since it is so underground.
