My reason for disliking him.

He hasn't done anything? So you haven't noticed that the DOW has stopped dropping and has actually begun to rise? He's ended a recession we put ourselves into over 8 years in less than 1.

It's called reallocation of money and it's also called government intervention. Uhhhh. ok We havent gotten an money back from taxes yet or anything at all. people have faith in obama so they put money back into the system. the only thing it has to do with obama is that fact ppl have faith in him has nothing to do with him raising taxes.

I dont smoke cigs any more. ive been clean from them for 4years. i only smoked for a year and half a pack a day at that. I had to quit because it was affecting me little bit in sports. mostly doing martial arts. ive played basket ion teams and pick up games at the gym since i was 6 same with baseball footba. As stated above zipper, and let me take it a step further and bring up my view on democracy that I'm sure will either be ignored, hated, or start a long discussion because of its unpopularity (irony).

Democracy is fundamentally flawed in getting things accomplished. While it is a "morally sound" approach in that everyone has an opinion, the first question that comes to my mind is why. The average IQ is 98, which is honestly, quite dismal. If you want I can rattle off about 20 different proofs of people being stupid. Okay, now let's take that fact and apply it to our context. The majority of people are stupid. All people vote. The majority decides who wins (somewhat, don't get me started). That is fundamentally flawed in the fact that our decisions are made by a mass of people. Also, at this point note that the more people gathered together the more the IQ drops (easily proven once more). So, take into account these majority of voters mash up into large, IQ dissolving groups and essentially get told who they will vote for.

My estimate would be that 1 out of every 500 voters makes an informed decision of any degree when voting. In fact, a large portion of the more intelligent people in America don't even vote. Why?

1. Cynicism: Intelligence is a breeder of unhappiness, the more a person understands the world and accepts it for what it is instead of trying to sugar coat it with false perspectives the less happy they will be. Ignorance is bliss.
2. Knowledge of the Voting System: Any rare person out there who actually understands the American voting system can easily recognize how screwed up it is. Votes are disproportionate, warped, and in many cases not even counted. The electoral college system is pathetic and many people don't vote for just that reason.
3. A Two Party System: It's as simple as looking past the facade to see what the election really is. The democrats and republicans are simply two organization vying for leadership. In the office Obama still has to listen to what the party is telling him, just as Bush did, and Clinton before him. In the end you're simply voting for two sides which care about nothing but gaining the power. With a brief look at history one can see that many times the democrats have supported something they now oppose, or even supported something the Republicans now support and, of course, they do not (and vice-versa). Therefore, these people either don't vote out of dislike at the monopoly or they vote third party, which accomplishes nothing as it is practically impossible for a third party to be elected.

So, in the end, even when you look past the two party idiocy which destroys any semblance of democracy the country might have, and look even further past the incredibly flawed voting system people still insist on calling a democracy, all that is left is a two party semi-republic ruled by people that are decided upon by the ignorant masses.

Democracy is idiotic because it assumes the majority is right which is almost always wrong. Every scientific, philosophical, psychological, biological, and every other "ical" advancement the majority now considers fact was once considered absolute lunacy by most people. The individual is the one that progresses society, not the ignorant masses.

Now I'm sure you'll say (if anyone actually reads this wall of text), "well, what is your solution, a dictatorship??!!" or something to the same effect. Well, as I said, the majority is almost always wrong, that doesn't mean they always are. That being said, I also don't support Obama 100% either, but compared to the other trash that's been in office lately he is hundreds of times better. The moment I saw Obama I liked him though, which is more than I can say for pretty much any other politician out there. Why?

1. He has an excellent education (you wouldn't think it would be rare but it is)
2. He has a feeling of honesty and "goodness" that isn't a particularly transparent guise for his "true self", so either he is honest, or he is very cunning. I'd rather have a smart, devious, cunning President than a bumbling idiot any day of the week, at least the mastermind will get something done.
3. He stands for the one thing the US needs, change. We're so afraid to progress that we've started to recede and it is absolutely pathetic. Even if he doesn't approach it the right way at least he has a goal I can agree with.
4. He is liberal. While he is still Christian he is more than just tolerant of other belief systems, in fact he stated "We are not a Christian country" which I absolutely loved.
5. He has personality, he isn't a drab, lifeless body that the foul nature of politics has sucked the life out of.
6. He is young. This isn't good because I can relate to him, it is good because it means he has had less time to be corrupted by politics.
7. He is (half) black (oh noes race is a reason). Growing up he didn't have quite as easy of a life, he's faced being on the outside of the majority his entire life which helps him relate to the minority, this is good in two ways. First, it pretty much guarantees he dislikes minority oppression of any sort and will fight for equality wherever he can. Second, many people cannot see multiple perspectives, given he has had to see from the majority's perspective more than most people, it is more likely that he can see multiple perspectives which is a wonderful quality in a person.
8. He isn't afraid to speak his mind, even if it makes a few people dislike him. This is another portrayal of honesty, when that black guy was arrested Obama wasn't afraid to voice his opinions regarding whether or not race may have played a part in the matter. It wasn't a smart move for gaining popularity but it shows that his beliefs matter more than what a few hicks think of him.
9. He handles himself beautifully. There are reports all the time of him getting up early in some hotel and going down to work out before eating breakfast and other things a typical guy would do. He isn't some shut off politician, he is a real person (or at least is commonly portrayed in that way).
10. He isn't McCain. McCain is a fucking douchebag on every conceivable level and the last thing I'd want is an 80 year old tortured veteran with likely post traumatic stress syndrome from Vietnam being the only thing standing between Palin the the Oval Office.

Of course, any of these points have holes, as they are created from the media and impressions. I don't know the guy personally and I probably never will. I support him because he is different, not because I have an undying faith in the idea that he is better. It's true, different is not always better, but at least it isn't more of the same or a steepened slope downhill.

So, yes, I do like Obama, but I'd like to think that my reasons are slightly more valid than the average person going out to vote for him. Look at it like you would Atheism, some idiots run around preaching it and worshiping it to the point that it's just another religion, as stupid as the rest. However, there are the others out there, the true Atheists and Agnostics that accept only the facts and recognize that even those could be wrong, they hold onto everything with a bit of skepticism and doubt. It isn't faith for them, it's something they have rational reason to support. Both those guys would vote for science over religion every day, but they are completely different people.
