Sorry to break this to you guys, but this boycott is useless. buying or not buying the game for about 20 community members isnt going to mean shit.

Lol I don't see what the big deal is, if I didn't get the game, someone else would have, lets say for arguments sakes NO ONE bought MW2 on PC, 0 sales, I wonder how much effort IW is going to put into the next CoD, this is the direction IW is going, I don't like it, I hate it, but that doesn't mean I cant enjoy MW2.

Re: Modern Warfare 2 Opinions
This is just one comparatively small community - many people who signed that petition will have not bought the game yet either.jimbojetuk wrote:Sorry to break this to you guys, but this boycott is useless. buying or not buying the game for about 20 community members isnt going to mean shit.
If everyone takes that approach then it won't work, that's the point of sticking together. Unions don't work if everyone leaves it.JDogg wrote:Lol I don't see what the big deal is, if I didn't get the game, someone else would have, lets say for arguments sakes NO ONE bought MW2 on PC, 0 sales, I wonder how much effort IW is going to put into the next CoD, this is the direction IW is going, I don't like it, I hate it, but that doesn't mean I cant enjoy MW2.

Re: Modern Warfare 2 Opinions
Ok to be honest Single Player isn't that bad but def. too short.
I haven't played it online yet, cause nobody near to me has it so I can get an own experience about the game. I've talked to some others who are actually playing this thing online. Most people are satisfied and haven't encountered any ping problems or anything else. Seems IW.NET is pretty good for people who just want to play the basic game and not to search an whole server list until the find and playable pure server. Basically it is a console game on pc. You turn it on play - turn it off.
If you have watched the sales most copies have been console ones (xbox360 & ps3) and only around 12% pc ones. So I've been asking me how could Codjumper participate in that if they want to.
We could create a group and play together though and try to find jumps and record them with fraps, xfire, etc.
The ping seems to be for most people no problem and works fine. I know that CJ isn't really fond of that and doesn't want to even try the game.
I just want to try to give the community some opportunities so that we aren't just a fading flower and the only things in the forums are hate threads about MW2. I want to have a clear discussion and not argument free bull shit. Soviet and Drofder have made their point and sure I can understand them - but do we want not to move forward in believe that the next COD will have dedi servers and all that stuff again. I think not therefore their system runs atm just too good. Or should move on and try to get other games into this here?
Feel free to insult or ban me!

Guys he signed a petition, not pledged never to buy the game. Also, maybe the reason loads of people are playing it is because it isnt actually as bad as you guys think it is. A lot of people vccouldnt care less about no dedicated support, doesnt mean its any less fun. it doesnt have to be perfect to be fun.
Also some of you guys are being complete assholes towards JDogg (especially KS from what ive seen), give him a fucking break he doesnt deserve it?

Thanks for ignoring my post, sam and soviet. All you do is swear at people that have different opinions? Or don't you have a good answer to what I typed directly at you? Thanks in advance.

Would MMOFPS work? huge multiplayer games of 200 plauers? I would payy monthly if it meant i could have insanely huge matches with RPG customizability.

Re: Modern Warfare 2 Opinions
So why would anyone pay for additional content while Treyarch gave everything away for free ?"Our gamers are telling us there's lots of services and innovation they would like to see that they're not getting yet. From what we see so far, additional content, as well as all the services Blizzard is offering, is that there is demand from the core gamers to pay up for that," Tipple explained.
If this happens I think loads of people will actually stop.

Re: Modern Warfare 2 Opinions
Nice jump, but the dual smgs made me want to vomit.
While I may not play professionally a lot, the most fun I ever had was scrimming with Peds, Damsel, KS, and a few others every once and a while, as well as playing with a clan for a while. How am I supposed to scrim with my friends halfway across the world on IW's crappy network? It simply doesn't work. That's not even professional play, that's casual competition. Now sure, I'd still have pubs. However, I wouldn't have favorite servers where I could make friends, fight to be number one on the server, and become well known. Instead I'd be playing with random people every time I logged on only progressing on IW's linear ranking system. So, I'd not only be sacrificing the most fun I had on CoD4, but also the most fun parts about my typical experience on CoD4. It's a lose lose situation.
I also am not going to base whether or not I pay $60 (outrageous by itself) on the prospect that maybe we'll eventually get, one day in the distant future, professional gaming support from a company who just jammed a 20 foot pole up all of our asses (don't deny it, some may have enjoyed being anally penetrated, others may have not even noticed since they're so used to it, but it did happen).
I wasn't making a stand with the jumping community, I was making a stand with the 209,000 people who said they would not buy the game. I don't give a crap about CJ in the long run. Yes, I love CJ, but we all knew it would eventually fade. PC gaming, on the other hand, is an undying and limitless love I have and that is why I am so strongly against MW2, as I've stated dozens of times previously.
Also, I'm not standing by my point, I'm standing by a large number of points which are not opinion, but facts about the economy we live in and the nature of companies. Feel free to stand by your dedication to a corporation who cares about nothing but your money (not an opinion, fact, read previous wall of text), however KS, I, and a few others will choose the side of rationality.
For the record, they swore first. I was going to keep it civilized. Also, it isn't an opinion. If you had taken the time to read my post you would have recognized that almost the entire thing was based on statistics and (what I thought before to be) commonly known facts about economics.Azabael wrote:Thanks for ignoring my post, sam and soviet. The potential joy? One can gain potential joy from anything. That argument is more opinionated and based on less fact than anything I have brought to the table thus far. Jumping was a small part of the game for me in CoD4.Azabael wrote:The facts you mentioned are completely true. And if you are willing to sacrafice your potential joy you might have gotten out of this game, I deeply respect you. Let me assume you don't only jump. We could say this game isn't ready for professional play yet. Okay, no problem for all of us, since we wouldn't compete with that anyway. So what remains are pubs and scrims. That is amazing from what I've experienced. So worth it for a lót of people. The professional gaming could very well still be coming, like in CoD4. So what remains, is the group that hate it due to the non-dedicated servers that won't provide an ideal jumpingsituation. Well, if that's the group you wanna make a stand with at CoD8 (CoD7 will be treyarch, vietnam), then you won't succeed becasue you won't be with enough people. And Soviet and Sam, I can fully understand you guys for wanting to boycott it, since CoDJumper is your home. You see CJs life fading away by the release of CoD6. But I think it's not fully realistic to think you can force your will as a jumper. Nevertheless, I understand it.
If you want to keep the boycott up no-matter what,
you have to realise all you can do now is stand by your point and make a principal case out of it!

2nd EDIT: I just realized, this game was made back in 1999 with dedicated server support, mod support, and custom map support.
EDIT:
To be fair, the petition was only to get IW to review their decision on dedicated servers and not for everyone who signed to boycott the game. I agree with the rest of what you said, however.Soviet wrote: I wasn't making a stand with the jumping community, I was making a stand with the 209,000 people who said they would not buy the game.
To: infinity ward
Get Infinity Ward to review their decision not to allow fully dedicated servers for their forthcoming game release CoD:MW2. Remember that this Call of Duty was made popular by PC Gamers who have supported the series throughout.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
