Modern Warfare 2 Opinions

Since I couldn't find a place to post this in any thread, I believe that this is worth a whole new topic. I have not touched this game yet, so I cannot truly post a review on it, but from what I've heard and seen, this is a disaster. Today, I woke up and, sadly , the first thing I could think of was "it's MW2 day". I got up out of bed and ate my breakfast and tried to go to school, but since I've been sick with a stomach flu for the past four days, I couldn't make it and went back to bed. I then looked outside my window and noticed that it was raining and thought that it was quite fitting and ironic considering what day it was. I have read multiple reviews on the game, such as these:

along with many MANY others, and I must say, how in the hell did this happen? I've only played CoD2, CoD4, and CoD:WaW online, and from what I've seen, they just get worse and worse at a negatively exponential rate. When I read the reviews from the more "trusted" sites, I thought that there would be a picture of Rick Astley at the end with the words "You've Been RICK ROLLED!" or "April Fools!". I'll play the game eventually (to clarify, I am not going to pay a cent for it), and I'll make a more indepth review, but I cannot believe how horrible this game has become. I haven't gone into detail about anything up to now (if no one has noticed ><), but that's mainly because I haven't played the game yet. From what I've seen, the SP is great and fun to play (just like all CoD games), but the MP system is worse than a pile of shit which has been peed on, molested, raped, and shat out by Robert Bowling himself. The system of "IW.Net" appears to work ok for the first time you play it, but it seems that the more people play, the worse it gets. I've heard that the graphics are great and the fps is nearly the same as WaW, which is a good point. To ruin that pro, there is NO SLI support, so if you rely on two video cards to play, you're screwed. I'll write the rest of my opinion when I actually beat the MP, but for now this quote sums up (in a general sense) what I'm thinking about the game right now:

It will be probably a few weeks, I will get to the highest prestige level (more time because I have a wife and kids and school to contend with), and after that I will most likely install Cod5 again and play it for the next year or so until cod7 comes out. This game has lost a huge amount of the prestige (no pun intended) it once held with the fact that there is no more community, It is basically a game to just start, play, finish turn off, there is nothing to keep me playing, as for having to pay for DLC, I am not worried, because by the time DLC comes out, I wont even be playing this game anymore. IW made a great game with great support features, ie. mouse, keyboard, graphics options, but the one thing they forgot to make support for was the community, this game does not come with "Community support" and that is where in my opinion the grade level is, it is just like watching a good movie with a bad ending, if the ending stinks, instantly it transforms a good movie into a bad movie, and just like the movie IW has transformed a good game into a bad one, all because of one option, dedicated servers.

I have not played the SP yet, but I imagine it to be not to different than MP, in the aspect of just playing with random AI/players that I don't get to really converse with.

All in all I give the game a fair 1 Star, because Community support is what truly makes a PC game, not IWNet.

Please post in-depth opinions of this game, as I would personally like to hear them here.

It's not a surprise at all. This game is everything console gamers have ever wanted. Even if your major sites aren't console fanboys they most likely won't experience online at all, and, even if they do, it will be with hardly any stress on IWnet, leading to much more pleasurable results than will be common. Customer reviews at this stage are incredibly untrustworthy. You watch just about any game come out and the customer reviews will all be 9s and 10s for the first few days, maybe even the first week. After that, when people start actually playing the game and the initial high wears off (and more people start trying to use the online feature) ratings will start to drop.

You must realize how ignorant most of the gaming (even PC) community is. Sure, 200,000 people signed that petition, but I guarantee you about 30% of those people will cave and buy the game anyway. Plus, the PC gaming community has at least 15 million people in it, 200,000 doesn't mean anything. Most people have no idea what all these bad things about MW2 actually mean, in fact I'm sure quite a few haven't even heard about them. In the end expect the rest of the world to be praising the game. This game is just the next Halo, a mediocre console game that will be more overrated than any other game before it.

I wish I could give some proper opinion about MP but I can't. Dude said that the MP sucked. But I'm not sure if that's from a jumping perspective or just a MP perspective like how the game is supposed to be played.

Nobody of my clan has gotten it yet. We don't know what game to play since CoD5 sucked already. Was fun for the first 2 weeks untill lots of people levelled up and gotten the crazy overpowered weapons. That with combination of fucking tanks in infantry maps and big ass maps not to talk about the poor sound (As far as I can tell, MW2 doesn't have such big maps).

Still, CoD5 is a better game jump-wise. Sure they fixed bouncing and nadejumps, but there's still quite an ammount of jumps you can do. You can also still stack in CoD5.

If they keep this up Call of Duty will be like Medal of Honor... Dead. I switched (And many others) from MoH to CoD. I reckon it won't take long till the major playerbase switches over to a completely new game which has yet to be announced. Might aswell be that Battlefield game since lots of people are anticipating it.

Mmm, i can see battlefield being the next big thing. First it will start with all the dedicated players switching. Then the people who have an interest and genuinely think the game is better for the reasons that I think we can all agree on here. Then will come the nonces who just pick up any game thats popular (aka cod 6) even though it isnt enjoyable at all.

I found that with Call of duty series. My friend was the first to get it (cod 1). I folowed it and bought 1 and 2 and played them to absolute hell and back on the pc, but when cod 4 and 5 and now 6 came to the xbox 360 its the thing everyone has and i dont get the same, if i may say so exclusivity of having the game. It comes as standard these days.

I really loved CoD1, CoD2 and CoD4. I played these games a lot. Liked every aspect (Although I sometimes do get annoyed by constant choppers in CoD4 on public servers).

Mmm its getting a bit dodgy now. IMO things started to get a bit silly after cod 2, when killstreaks became an essential part to the game. There were good additions but it seems theyre targetting the general gaming audience these days, instead of people who want a good down to earth shooter.

Thats why I almost exclusively play promod on cod4. I find that that's the easiest way to build your skill level and have fun without dealing with constant choppers or marty or noobtubes.

kk i thought FUCK IT and i baught it :S. Well it is shit to define it. You cant bounce, stack, rpg jump or do anything as most of it is cliped. The actual game itself is shit as it is realy easy, and people just camp 24/7. The weapons are ok but i prefur cod4's. As the weapons on cod6 are huge and get in the way. The maps arent realy that special either. And the worst of all is the fov. U cant see fuck all with it so low. And considering u cant use console/lean or jump. Im already bored with it . So if your thinking of getting it, DONT!

Yeh that's just dumb. My father bought the game but he plays it completely different then how we play the game. He just plays 2h an evening, 2 evenings a week if not less.

We played more in the past because he also played on the SoE server. But those days are over with MW2...

Here's my experience so far, 3 hours into SP, 7 hours of MP. SP is incredible, best so far in the CoD series, IW has always made a great SP experience, I remember my first time playing CoD4 on the ship level, epic. Anyway, SP is amazing. Now moving on to MP, this game could have been an incredible MP game, really intense, great graphics, it's actually really fun. But of course, IW fucked it up, even still, I'd recommend to buy for SP, if not, download it, you really have to play at least the sp.

How can you recommend to buy a game that killed this community and killed PC gaming? You are a fucking scab, there is a reason people do boycotts and the intention is not to give developers money for releasing shit. Fuck you.

I meant download it, but you guys don't like me talking about piracy, I've gotten a warning for it before. Boycotts are bullshit, half the people on there bought the game, you're fucked either way, you buy the game, you are supporting the rape of pc gaming, if no one buys the game, do you think IW is gonna give a shit, they make more than enough from the 360 and ps3 versions, lets say none of us bought the game, pc sales=0, do you think IW will put more effort into it, or just fucking cut us off completely.

Then it doesn't matter, those that bought it bought it, if you don't want to support IW (Which I didn't) then don't buy the game it's simple.
