up to 20 inches of rain so far... in the past 4 days.
Since it's quite a big deal where I live, I feel like posting this :O. Over the past 4 days, it's just been raining down and in the past 24 hours, some places in my state have gotten up to 15 inches of rain. Including the rain over the weekend, it adds up to 20 inches in some places. In my area, we've gotten at least 10 inches of rain and I've had quite an interesting day. I woke up at 2:30 am to hear thunder, and it was so strong that my house shook and it spooked me because I thought it hit my house. I decided to just go back to bed, and an hour later, another one hit extremely close to my house. After waking up 5-6 times throughout the night, it was finally time for me to get up and go to school, so I check the news and 5 counties around mine had all closed their schools, and my county was on "stand-by" because they are mentally retarded. I wound up driving to school since the bus decided to not come, and on my way there I heard that the schools in my county were delayed for 2 hours (I was in the parking lot at my school) so I decided to just go in and see what the deal was since a lot of students were going into the building. When I got in there, the basement was flooded (which is also known as Freshman (F) hall) and one hall had tiles from the roof fall into the class rooms. Some of the teachers directed everyone to go into the library and wait until school started in 2 hours since it was delayed, so I wound up going into there and meeting up with some friends (They decided to sneak out of the school, since they didn't want to stay, and the administrators of the school weren't letting anyone out, but I'll get back to that later). After an hour of waiting, they finally decided to cancel school in my county, so I wound up driving back home. It turns out that one of my friends escaped from the school and actually walked 5 miles in the rain to get home, but the others were caught xD. Anyways, there has never been this much rain in my state, so it set a new record, and I got to stay home from school today and maybe tomorrow since the school is pretty much wrecked :S. The only downside to this is that 3 people have been confirmed dead because of this weather. One of them was just driving down the road and all of a sudden, their car was literally swept away from an overflowed creek which turned into a river temporarily. Another of them was a toddler who was swept down a different creek which overflowed.

Anyway, I rather have loads of rain and thunder than having to bear the heat of 30+. omg, I am not built for heat

lol. 30+ isn't too much for me (I'm assuming Celsius). I live in a swampy area of America, and it's extremely humid here, so 30C feels more like 35C. We only have like a month or two of Fall temperatures a year (we never approach Winter temperatures, and if we do, it's very rare). In the summer we go up to about 42C max (without the humidity). As of now, it's about 27C :S.
EDIT:
An update on this situation. I thought the rain was dying down a bit... I was wrong. It just began to start up again an hour ago. It began to get dark outside and I thought that it was getting late (I thought it was around 7 or so), so I looked at my clock and it was 3 pm. Heavy rain then began to fall and has been falling for the past hour, and I'm barely 1/4 through it now :S. In my area, I'm now into 12-15 inches of rain according to a few weather channels.

1. Zaitsev, you're a pussy.
2. Interesting, there's been quite a bit of rain Texas as well, in fact I think it was moving from west to east so you're probably experiencing the same stuff we had last week (although it sounds stronger). The worst we had was a roof cave in on one of our portable buildings (construction and expanding at our school).

Aye, I just read it and now my eyes hurt[SoE]_Zaitsev wrote:lol, wall of text.

I wouldn't have bothered going to school tbh, it would have been obvious to me that they would have kept you all in there and not let you go home.Infinite wrote:(They decided to sneak out of the school, since they didn't want to stay, and the administrators of the school weren't letting anyone out, but I'll get back to that later)

That is true, but I was already basically at school when they said it was delayed (not canceled), and my county is EXTREMELY stubborn. We've had our whole state shut down the schools for some snow, and my county would be the only one with school on that day.Pedsdude wrote:Aye, I just read it and now my eyes hurt[SoE]_Zaitsev wrote:lol, wall of text.

P.S. School is canceled tomorrow for me

The same thing happens with me. My school district is ridiculous. I remember one time the roads were basically covered in ice and they kept the schools open. Needless to say there were about 10 accidents that day in and around the school parking lots. High school drivers ftw!
In other news, I have thunderstorms once more as well.

I've had some light rain today but nothing much
Slightly windy evening tonight, I hope some leaves don't get blown off trees...

There's a tree right behind my house (within 50 meters) that was struck by lightning a while ago, it has a huge black stripe down it
I have't looked at what the weather is supposed to be, or how the storm is moving, but I wonder if it's gunna hit Connecticut? My grandmother lives in Missouri and almost any weather they have there, we get here a couple days later.

that's a nice pic and all, but out of all the pictures you could have taken why'd you take a picture of a plant?

Because plants have some really small details. If a plant comes out nice in a photo, you have yourself a good camera

Yes, but if boobs come out really well in a photo you have a picture of boobs

Discussing Marshall's new camera lol^

Also, with that many crap going on I wouldn't even bother going to school.

Every time I begin to read the title of this topic I get excited. Then I finish reading it and I'm like awww.

It was quite an exciting event in my life. From what I've heard it has been the worst flood here ever since 1628 or something (I didn't even think people were settled here back then tbh).
Anyways, 10 dead so far from what I've heard. Some people couldn't make it to school today because 1. their house was flooded or 2. Their surrounding areas were flooded and they couldn't drive or get out. My county decided to reopen schools due to their stubbornness and stupidity (some counties closed the schools for the rest of this week + some of next week).

meh, it's all ok. School is pretty fun for me atm because all my classes are easy
. It also turns out that the fact that "one room flooded about 2 inches (5 cm) high in the basement of the school" turned into an exaggerated rumor that "the whole basement was under 2 feet (around 66 cm) of water" which is why I expected that school would be canceled in my area. Also, 3 tiles from the roof of my school fell in another hall, and that turned into a rumor that the whole roof fell down in that hall. Tiles are about 60 cm x 60 cm big in the ceiling.
