GCSE Music vs PE?

Hi, Im in what seems to be a big dilema...I like PE and Music equally (I play for a football team but I also play guitar) and Im wondering which you guys would think would be the better choice. I experienced my first music GCSE lesson which I enjoyed but in my normal PE lesson I was in the GCSE group and I enjoyed that equally too. Im wondering which would be better because im in a complete hash of what i should do. Im 14 so Im quite early in my 'important' education...

which would you guys pick to have for the next 2 years and why?

Thanks, the post was very interesting.

I was allowed 4 gcse's and 3 were quite straightforwards to pick (French, history, media) however in the first slot the only 2 that appealed to me were music and PE.

I seem to have a strong timetable already, I am doing the science triple award which means I only get 2 choice lessons on a friday for example, and one is french, I dont think I would enjoy another 'academic' lesson.

The situation seems to be I would enjoy PE a lot, and I find the whole scheme of training, the biology side and the physical side itself, and I could and most likely would do well in it - however without acting as big headed I feel I am too good at music NOT to do it if you understand me.

I feel like I am going to be headed towards music as I enjoy it equally and its a chance, if I got a good grade, to show that I have a creative side and that I can pick things up and understand things (such as reading music)

I was speaking with my Dad a while ago about the topic and he thinks music would be a better choice because for the most part you're either good at PE or youre not, its quite a personal trait, however music you aren't born with (sure theres musical people but none of us picked a guitar up and played like Eddie Van Halen on our first try). I also feel that music would be more useful in future life.

Alright. at the moment it looks like I will go down the route of music because it opens up a career in music (which will be extremely hard to get but it has always been a passion). Still arent 100% but I will have a talk with a careers advisor at school some time,

I would suggest music as well. The chances of you going anywhere with either skill are extremely small, but at least music is something you'd be able to do in every day life for the rest of your life. Football, while you can play it with friends, is pretty limited in real world application. Music, on the other hand, is much easier to fall back on and an easier hobby to keep up. It can also be useful in many circumstances.

Well, I went with the tile of the thread and gave my opinion of that.
My opinion was either off topic or KS thought I said something wrong, and I ate some smoked ham today.

In simple terms:

Music: tough but more respected
PE: easy but less repected

I got 4 A*s, 5 As and 1 B at GCSE... and the B was Music.

Probably best to take whichever one you prefer tbh, in terms of getting a place at a university of your choice, the main emphasis is on AS levels and predicted A2s, so dropping 1 grade or so because you took a harder, more respected GCSE shouldn't make a difference.

Hmm. (not related to quote:) I know I emphasised on the football side but wouldn't PE be also useful for other professions? Anything sportswise would be encouraged by a good PE grade I would imagine?
