Fullbright and stuff

Hey
When im playing at cod4jumper servers I always turn the fullbrigh off for a nice fps , is that possible on normal servers ?
i know for the command r_fullbright 0 but thats not the same :S

As its classed as a cheat, its not possible on pulic servers, only if "Devmap" is enabled.
