wow, we have to get the equivalent of a 7 here to pass. It can be even more rigorous for other tests.

GCSE = A-G Grades (and also U, but thats basically not a grade).
A*-C is considered a "good" pass [Uni and Careers credit these] (Considered a GCSE Level 2)
D-G are still pass grades, but you might as well discredit them
(Considered a GCSE Level 1)
Further to the above, there are two sets of tests, high and Lower (Foundation?). If you sit the higher paper, you can ONLY get grades A*-D, anything lower is a U, and for lower, you can get a maximum mark of C.
Getting a U is a Fail and getting an X is a "not enough work to grade" style mark, where coursework or exam was not taken.

Re: yaaayy! passed all exams :)
Well yeh same here.
It depends on your other marks. Let's say you get a bunch of 5s and lots of 7s you most likely won't pass.
But in my case, I had all 7, some 8s and a few 6s and that nasty 4.5. If I only had 6s and that 4.5 maybe I wouldn't have made it. It all depends on your other marks.

Re: yaaayy! passed all exams :)
I find numbers more easy tbh.
On our exams for each question correctly answered you gain points. Count all points. Then there's a formulae (Always different since amount of points you can earn varies) which tells you your mark, like a 7.6. Because that's above a .5 it will be an 8 on your exam.

Basically, an exam had (example) 120 Marks.
You then (at back of your certificate) check your mark against your grade:
[A* = 110+]
[A = 100-109]
[B = 90-99]
Etc, the letters are a representation of your total marks.
(Soviet = U Grade!

Having the ability to give a decimal number (in your grades) allow a much larger level of precision of accuracy. I would honestly say it is slightly better. My only concern is that your marks are then all put into one big pot and you get a final "end of year mark".
I done a few subjects (Spanish and Design Tech) that I got crap marks in [D's] when I get asked my grades, I never give those two, so I would never want to consider them part of my final grades. You have no choice, you are told "This is your total".
Individual results are better than total averages...

Depends on the difficulty of the content tbh. I got 90+ in quite a few of my Maths modules at A level, and last year my average for my best 3 modules at uni was 57 (40 is a pass).Soviet wrote:wow, we have to get the equivalent of a 7 here to pass. It can be even more rigorous for other tests.

ahhh, now I know how you guys do it. It's exactly the same but you guys simply use letters as the final mark. Got it now.

Re: yaaayy! passed all exams :)
Instead of using decimals, we have + and -, for example if you get like a 90/100 you'd get an A-. But if you got an 89 you'd get a B+.
that's a nice pic and all, but out of all the pictures you could have taken why'd you take a picture of a plant?
-Soviet
Because plants have some really small details. If a plant comes out nice in a photo, you have yourself a good camera
-Drofder 2004
Yes, but if boobs come out really well in a photo you have a picture of boobs
