Yes, although I think Cod4 uses both colour specular maps and cosine power maps for shiny effects.

Any other Cod games I don't know.

Try adding frazzer001 on xfire, I know he used to do alot of successful skinning involving specular maps (creating very nice gold and silver weapon skins).
