How does one perform live dubstep? They turn up with their PC and start FruityLoops and see what shit they can come up with?

Depends on the artist, really. Some of them just play their tracks as they are, but it's enjoyable regardless because you're enjoying it with thousands of other people. Others do vocals live and modify the track somewhat so that it's not exactly the same version you know (Modestep for example had the vocalist singing, a guy on guitar and a guy on drums and it was still dubstep, very entertaining).
