My opinions:
Alchohal is the devils work
Abstinence is the way
Purity ftw
Everything gives you cancer
The swine flu is going to kill everyone
The devil is out to get those who sin
You must bow down to god

I'm just kidding, but there are people (crazy religious people) that believe that kind of stuff

But seriously, I think everyone can make their own decisions, and nobody can make them for you. I remember when I was younger I never thought I would EVER do anything like weed or alchohal, but as I got older I realized that things like that aren't as horrible as they were made up to be. People try to scare you when you are younger, and you believe every word of it, but then you get older and realize that they were just telling you all the horrible things that could possibly happen, and making it sound like the worst thing in the world. You can think of bad side-affects for both alchohal and weed, but then again you can also say that microwave ovens are going to give you cancer, along with everything else.
that's a nice pic and all, but out of all the pictures you could have taken why'd you take a picture of a plant? :P
-Soviet
Because plants have some really small details. If a plant comes out nice in a photo, you have yourself a good camera ;)
-Drofder 2004
Yes, but if boobs come out really well in a photo you have a picture of boobs

Discussing Marshall's new camera lol^

While those circumstances aren't necessarily going to happen, there is a chance they will. A much larger chance than a microwave oven giving you cancer. The question is do you think that chance is worth it for false positive feelings. If you're going to deliberately take something to try and make yourself feel better, why not just use anti-depressants? The side effects are much less and there is no chance of addiction.

Even though there is no denying that drofder is right, he is overreacting massively.
So you've had some bad experiences with alcohol in ur surroundings, so what, bad things happen all the time..
That being said, I know many, MANY more people who like an occasional drink who do not get in fights, get themselves killed, do not get drunk (me included for the last couple of years).
Yes, strangly enough there are people who drink 'sensibly'.
The advantage of drinking? Its a social thing and its fun to get a little tipsy.

So I take a couple of drinks sometimes, like that really adds up with the fucked up and dangerous lifestyle we all have.. To name a few things..
Taking part in trafic, eating unhealthy food (I doubt there is not any food which is not unhealthy in any way), living in a smoggy envoirement, getting in contact with virusses etc., not doing enough exercise, smoking, listening to loud music, working in unsecure work locations, working without sufficient protective gear and using cellphones (allthough its bad influences have not been proven yet and is arguable).

There is no telling me that you do not do any of those things.

Over-reacting to what? The fact I lost 4 family members to drink or the level of negative effect?

Name ONE positive effect that can come from alcohol.

I didnt mean to sound offensive and I'm sorry if I did, but the fact that someone has had a fair amount of bad experiences does not mean that this will be the case for everyone. I for one, do not know anyone close who has had any problems with alcohol.
But ye, so what, was a bad choice of word.. Sorry.

What if Jdogg his family is burned in that Australian fire ? Did you (Drofder and KS) care ? NO! It's the same stuff.

Ai makes a valid point. Alcohol is ok, aslong as you know when to stop. You can have a fun time while drinking, it's certainly more fun then when you go to a disco or a pub and DON'T drink. He summed it up, being affected by the alcohol for a bit is fun, but the fun is over once you have too many and are puking all over the place.

Not a problem, I knew you didn't mean it as offensive so brushed it off and honestly, the relatives were not that close and I was young for most of them, not that I didn't care, just not emotionally scarred.

Completely wrong and misinterpreted. My primary concern is not a fire half way round the world. I DO however feel sorry for the losses during that fire and would be very sorry if someone on these forums suffered because of it. Just because I do not care for the happenings of another Country, does NOT mean I do not care for human life and it is stupid of you to even think that.

If you cannot go to a party, pub or club and not enjoy yourself WITHOUT drink, then you need to consider your reason for going to it in the first place. If your sole intention when going out is "to get drunk" while having fun, then you should reassess what you consider fun.

Its not that we cannot have a good time without alcohol, you simply will probably have a better time if u drink some.. But getting drunk isnt fun.. Its a thin line between fun and drunk, thats why I chose not get near that line anymore, but drink in moderation.

And I find that entertaining in moderation.

Because of the enjoyable taste, and for some people (myself included) the way it makes you feel.
