You know what else would be a flawed idea?

"Hey, let's invade a Middle Eastern nation even though they've been fighting wars constantly for thousands of years over religion and they fight in a style of combat we will never be able to counter or defeat. Nothing sounds more fun than an unwinnable war"

....

"Ok, lets do it."

I love how the focus of environmental issues has changed with the majority of ignorant twats not caring or noticed. 4ish years ago all they talked about was holes in the o zone. The large one over Australia that they were worried about closed up. Now they talk about the world heating up, even though it hasn't changed in something like 6 years.

The rise in Co2 levels only follows the earths temperature, not the other way around as Al Gore showed.

The only way global warming will destroy life is if the sea currents fail.

I don't think humans are stupid enough to destroy our selves with nukes.

YOU CAN'T HUG YOUR CHILDREN WITH NUCLEAR ARMS!
Some other facts... In holland, last couple of years the co2 emission in holland has dropped. Causing less smog to be in the air, causing the temperature to rise 2 degrees celcius..

Anyway, before any major astroid will hit us, we probably died long time ago by a massive vulcano explotion + ice age that follows.

I watched a program about how if the sea currents failed, all life in the sea can't survive. Which would then cause all life on land to die. I forget why. But apparantly its happened before in the earths History.

There are so many ways the earth could die by. Yellowstone gets my vote probably.

Hey.

I actually came on after looking at the future of our earth around the net, and thinking about some religious stuff that surrounds it.

All this about the mayan calendar, and 21st of december 2012, i think is nonesense. Just because they calculated the Earth Orbit length or something, to 34 seconds out, which is indeed amazing for thousands of years ago, I can't see how they can predict that the earth will end in 2012. I know for one that I will be sat quite nervously on that day anyway.

Secondly, The asteroid thing, I see that as highly unlikely, because I'm sure theres some people monitoring something regarding that.

As posted earlier, by someone, saying, as the north pole melts, the south grows. I did not know about that but it has given me a sort of relief.

I was in a geography lesson yesterday. My teacher said what will happen in 9 years when Silver expires? Or what about in 20 years when another metal (something used in mobile phones, digital cameras etc) expires? The most worrying is copper, which is used for most piping systems, expires in 38 years.

Its starting to get to me, freak me out now...

Ive never really feared the concept that earth will end but to think, in a few thousand - million years, our kind, humans, are expected to die out. I wonder how it will end - food crisis? shelter? I dont know ... just thinking about when it starts to go downhill, when people are fighting for basic needs, when peopole start living in horrendous conditions. And to think - there might not be many planets with life on. Ours should be evergrowing better! The technology, the organisation of transport. Just how people have uncovered a way to make my computer work so i can type here now - amazing. I was hoping things could just get better from hereon.

I don't know whats caused me to feel this way in the last few weeks...maybe because its too big a problem for us to deal with? I don't know.

EDIT: also in 2012, I forgot to mention, is the Good vs Evil battle, day of Apocalypse. I dont know how it stands in the bible, but isn't it supposed to be the final showdown of good vs evil? What will happen in 2012? Im pretty happy to think earth will continue in 2013, but doesnt this make the bible bullshit? lol.

If you are using the 'logic' that someone must of created everything to start it all off, eg. "God", then it is just as logical to say the universe created itself.

Why believe in religion/god when there is no reason to? There's no empirical of logical proof of God's existance. I've no idea how people can base their beliefs on nothing, other than self generated fear of no after life and social conditioning.

I like your post Jimbo. But according to various religions we're already supposed to die out many times. 2012 is just another number.

And ofcourse the planet will die some day. Wether it be in 10 years, 100 years or 2 million years. There will be a time that our natural supplies will run out. But when the time is near our technology has advanced a lot too. Who knows, maybe we can duplicate stuff many years later, which not only includes various metals but also food.

And if that's not enough many years later (Maybe we get to live that) we'll be going on holiday to Mars (I truly believe that). There will be a day we will have settlements on different planets just like we sailed accross the oceans many hundreds of years ago. Later we'll sail the universe ;)

I don't fear the earths demise. I think all that crap about smoke, gas and everything like that is something we can't sort out. Because we waste shitloads of oil and all that. Think sports car races, just mainly car sports in general. It's a waste, but too spectacular to quit (And the money loss would be dramatical, that's what matters most ;)).

I do wonder how the universe looks like. What will be at the far reaches of space ? Will it end ? What if it ends, do we then need to find a new way to reach the 'space' of our universe (Like we do now with rockets). I find it a lot of fun to talk about these kind of things. Personaly I think of the universe to be a 'planet' but in 3D (Or some sort of dimension we can't figure out yet). The earth is an island in the universe, and the universe is a huge 3D sphere. But on earth everything basicly is flat (Like Australia, a flat island) but Earth (or Mars, Saturnus etc) will be 3D (circle) island in the universe with different 'races' or 'settlements' on far away planets just like America was previously.

Fun

God ? pfff... No god for me.

If a asteroid was heading for earth right now, or scientists told us of another way in which the world would end, you could imagine how religions would be like. "ITS TEH GOOD LORD RAINING DOWN HIS JUDGEMENTS, WE WARNED THIS DAY WOULD COME!"
