edit: do you guys have any suggestions for cards? i was looking and saw a BFG geforce 6600 gt 256 mb for $200 and the specs sounded alot like the x850xt card. i don't know what to do though, i still need to get a PSU before i can get the card

Will have to let someone else answer those questions, I don't use steam and I'm not good with the technical side of PCs.

http://promotions.newegg.com/NVIDIA/7800GS/index.html

since i only have AGP slots and i'm not able to buy a new mobo with pcix slots, would this be a good card to have, and would it be able to play cod2 on 1024x768 on DX9 with fps of 70-125?

erm yes any of those 7800's would run your Game at higher than 1024x768 with full graphics and anti aliasing at well over 125fps >>> depending on your PC's memory, and CPU

but for that card you would need a new psu because it uses about 150watts just on its own :/

Code: Select all

Just on a side note

dunno why you cant get 125fps in CoD:2

my rig is

P4 2.4Ghz Northwood (clocked to 2.52GHz)
1GB DDR 400
ATI 9700pro (128Mb)

and i get 125fps at 1024x768@72Hz with medium settings at DRX7

yeah i might get a 500w psu soon, but the 7800 GS is not PCIx16, so it's different than the 7800 gtx

1 gb pc2700 ram
2.8 ghz p4 cpu
128 mb 9800 pro

i get from 50-125 fps on DX7, but i want to play it on dx9 because the game is beautiful on dx9

you could probably gain 10fps by killing pc-cilling whilst your playing...

Thats a nice combo hambones. btw my fps has dropped sometimes, and couldnt keep 125fps...so i closed lots of processes, mainly msn and the usual stuff running, then it was fine.

i just hope that once we get them, we can put them in right away. on christmas 2004 when i got my 9800 pro, my parents waited until new years' to decide to put it in, and when they actually did, it took them an hour or two to actually put it in. @ noob parents

edit: before i get the card, i want the drivers. are these the appropriate drivers? (card is a geforce 7800 GS oc)
