More like:
FBI 1
Anonymouse 0.01
Taking a website out of action for a couple of hours is no big achievement...hardly "shut down the FBI".

Re: MegaUpload shutdown!
Except, not only have websites been shutdown, Anonymous released a shit tonne load of personal info that will cut deep and produce fear in a lot of those on the list. Phone number, addresses, children, birth dates. Not exactly a list I would like to be made public if I were working for a hated company.KillerSam wrote:FBI 1

Also, SOPA and PIPA are currently postponed and a new legislation has been written up (OPEN) which is a little more lenient (but in no way 'good'). This happened the day after the DDOS attacks, I doubt that is a coincidence.

WoW
theres alot of possibilities there.
For 1 I never join those sites to download quicker, or the old me@home.com comes out lol
But as 1 site goes down another is there to take its place.

As 1 site gets sueds for BILLIONS, 20 similar sites run for the mountains. That is wh ythe old P2P methods are no longer used...B4. wrote:But as 1 site goes down another is there to take its place.

Re: MegaUpload shutdown!
I still don't understand though, how can they even think about taking down websites such as MegaUpload, when e.g. thepiratebay.org is still up and running?
Re: MegaUpload shutdown!
Torrents are hosted on the users' computers, piratebay doesn't actually host any of the illegal files that can be found using it.
Re: MegaUpload shutdown!
Yeah, and piratebay has been shut down for periods of time before. The technicality I mentioned doesn't make it exempt to American totalitarianism, but it's a useful defense.
Re: MegaUpload shutdown!
With luck America will continue its campaign against the internet and be completely humiliated and ridiculed into a position where they won't have powers like that.

The internet - coordinated by an American organisation -- ICANN.KillerSam wrote:It's a crazy situation that you can break a law in one country and be held to account for it. It means that some wacko country could make something illegal (like drinking alcohol) and then hold you to account for doing it and demand extradition. Weird world.
Therefore, America own the internet and they own all the data you send on it.
