Very nice, post.. I just miss one aspect of fps, which is aircontrol.. Using different fps makes ur char respond better or worse when in the air..
500 fps has the least air control, thats why u can jump up 39 units when u take a run up, and now while standing against the wall..
Also. U can jump up 39 units in cod2 with 500 fps, not 38 units. But again, u need a run up.

Yep that's right. You can actually get slightly higher if you sprint.

Its not that u get higher. If u jump standing against a wall, u might clear it, but not long enough to get ontop of it, this has to do with the air control thing.

That's quite interesting... having never properly exceeded 125 fps, I never knew about the whole air control aspect.

Perhaps it'd be worth writing something for the FPS tips page of the site?

Nice Post :mrgreen:

I have something strange.
@ CoD4
When I type in the console: /com_maxfps 200
The fps meter (/cg_drawfps 1) says I run 200 fps.
And when I type in console: /com_maxfps 167
It also says I run 200 fps.

More people have that problem or am I doing something wrong?

Thats normal..
The game only stops the FPS at any number that suffice this formula: 1000/*
* This can be any whole number, such as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, etc.
If you try to cap your FPS on a number that does NOT suffice to that formula, the FPS automaticly goes up to the first higher one.
In your case: 167=1000/5,988.
This means CoD automaticly makes it 1000/5=200.
If you would type /com_maxfps 166 it would work.

Just to clarify above:

Actual FPS = 1000/[RoundDown(1000/167)]
200 = 1000/5 = 1000/[RoundDown(5.98)]
166 = 1000/6 = 1000/[RoundDown(6.02)]
