Texturing a gun w/ lightray... Using a backround texture?

Hey, i was reading this tut on another site, and it explains how to texture an ak 47 using the backround texture that u use to make the model.. I have tried but cannot get it. If someonce could post to help me that would be great. Site is at

I have the texture, but i cannot use it to texture the gun...

Well i have texture the gun... but the top and bottoms are screwed up.. any1 know how to help me there?
