The strafejumping without using strafekeys isnt STRAFEjumping.
And i think its easyer to learn the proper way of strafejumping immediatly, than that you have to learn a new way when u allready got used to an 'easyer' method!

nope i dont think so ... when u use the 125 fps "bug" in the quake engine to get faster and jump farer is called strafing or strafejumping ... which method doesnt matter cause its all the same principle ...
u can get farer with strafe keys but u have also to "flick" the mouse ...
rofl flick jumping

I'll try and put a proper strafe-jumping tutorial up when i have time. The method I use works pretty well (I think its the standard method) and I'll also include the new method which aicaramba has shown me (I managed a 246 jump with it). It will probably be a few days before i have the chance to record it but it will be up here sometime next week.

Strafe Jumping...

A 'method' of combining forward and strafe to further your distance

Flick Jumping...
A 'method' of flicking the mouse to further your distance without using the strafe keys.

Pro Strafe Jumping...
combining the above two, to further increase your distance.

The fps bug is only a bug when you use strafe. Hence strafejump. Its not opinion, its fact.

the Q3 bug works like this...

You use your strafe keys to "trick" the engine into thinking your are moving forward. And because you are using strafe and forward together, you are effectively moving faster. So when you jump, the engine thinks you ar emoving faster and then you go further. The flick is just to cause engine to think you are going EVEN further than you are.

That is why you still go further just flicking on its own, but to get the full effect, you MUST strafe.

with the method u called flick jumping i can jump 243 gaps ... without 125 fps i can jump maybe 220 ... cause i use the 125 bug ... and using this bug to get faster is strafing !
uffff too bad that my english is so bad :(
i say just the same things ... in german i could discuss much better ...

Explain to me how you jump?

You hold forward and then move your mouse?
Or do you hold forward and strafe (A/D) while moving forward then move your mouse.

using 125 is obvious... everyone uses 125, 215 is not the strafejumping bug, that is the "magic number" bug, where 125/333 fps tricks the engine in a slightly different way (causing higher and further jumps), strafejumping is still possible without the fps.

That's possible, 125 makes you only jump 1 inch higher: bug in the quake engine... ;)

125 fps makes u jump further even if u dont strafejump.
U can strafejump without having 125 fps, but the effect is smaller. Most jump maps can still be done even if u cant reach 125 fps, its just quite a bit harder.
