problem to make a night map :(

hi every body i'm making a night map , i created my skybox with the modsonlines tutorial

i apply my sky texture (mp_depot) only on the inside face of my skybox ( i tried too with every skybox brush selected) but
when i test my map its day i mean its not dark because we dont see the red light i created on my map...

i tried everything i don't no why this stupid ''easy'' thing doesnt work ..




NEEEED HHEEELP!!

What do you mean, if you just change your skybox texture that will just change the colour of the skybox, the actual `light` that envlopes the map will still be a `white light`. I can't remember much from radiant, but where you add light sources into the map you need to change the colour of the light to a dark/blue light if you're wanting the map to look like it's nighttime (or have little/no natural light, and only the white light sources from artificial lights eg lampposts and such).

You have to edit your worldspawn settings to properly illuminate your map. The skybox is only a big texture, it doesn't exactly do anything with map lighting.

i already edited the worldspawn setting ! i taked the depot setting i did all why you said ! but when i try my map on local game its dayand its not dark like depot... there is the depot night sky but it isn't dark..i already created red yellow and blue light but i cant see them , please someone could make me a large night skybox with entities already inside on a .map?

Do you actually compile lighting in your compile tools('compile lighting' checkbox is ticked)?

As has already been stated, the skybox is not the problem.

Read what you have been told. The SKYBOX IS NOT THE ISSUE. You need to sort out your WORLDSPAWN settings.

Make sure you have NOTHING selected. Press N.
Now enter the following details ONE BY ONE in to the KEYS and VALUE box (pressing enter afterwards)

Code: Select all

KEY: northyaw

VALUE: 0.4

Its really hard to see lighting detail on such little amount of map, I am guessing this is just a test map for the settings?
Build a few structures and a larger floor.

What sky texture is being used?
