Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

It all depends on your ability to compensate for a higher ping. I can play up to about 120 ping decently. The only reason you wouldn't be able to play with a ping like that is if you always just play on super low ping servers.

My personal ping limit is below 100. Anything above that is a no-go.

It also depends on the game and the counter measures in place.
TF2 does not suffer from ping related issues as bad as CoD does/did.

You will know when ping becomes a real issue when you get a stuttering effect with movement and delayed actions.
(For example, player moves a little further in one direction after releasing the key).

i play under 70 mostly but when i really bored i go on american servers (cod4) and dont do to badly which is 250 ping
it mainly depends on the stability of your ping
if its stable then u wont hit walls but you will get delays when firing
but if its going everywhere then its really hard to do anything

the main codjumper server i go on is 250 ping and it doesnt affect me.

It probably does, but you just learned to deal with it.

I for one couldn't be arsed to play with such a ping.
