Unfortunately I took my wifi card out a few weeks ago because I never use it so I can't really test to see if it's a CoD1 problem or not. If anyone here uses wifi and has CoD installed see if it works. Might be something to do with the port as well?

I use wifi and have CoD1 installed on my laptop (Win7 64b) and desktop (Win7 64b/Fedora16 32b).

On my desktop it works like a charm on both Fedora and Win7 OS.
On my laptop however, I also have the "CoDMP.exe has stopped working." error. I don't know if it's the same error as in this thread because I know there are several reasons that cause MP not to start.
Unfortunately, I haven't checked yet what's causing the issue...

Maybe it's something to do with a certain set of drivers the laptops are using.

I did have this problem too around this time as well. The way I fixed it was to add " +set cl_motd 0 " to the end of the target line. So the target line now looks like this:

"C:\Program Files\Call of Duty\CoDMP.exe" +set cl_motd 0

I think it was a windows 7 update that screwed things up. :(
Hope I helped if you haven't fixed this already. :)
