APB Reloaded

Post by matt101harris » June 20th, 2011, 8:10 am

Hi guys was just wondering how many of you have APB. I recantly started to play it and am rather addicted to it :). Great game allot like grand theft auto but better. If you have it and are on EU2 as an enforcer add MattyBatty to friends list.

Was in original beta and the game sucked balls.

The new progress I have just tried and isn't as bad, but it is not in the same league as GTA by a long shot.
on the positive, its a free-to-play game, so you can't argue.

Downloaded it the other day, played about 1 min of laggy game and then got kicked by PB for insufficient RAM (http://screenshot.xfire.com/s/115134490-4.jpg), although it did say it required 2GB of RAM and I have 2GB of RAM, so I'm on the borderline.

I've got some more RAM (to take me up to 3GB total) that should be arriving tomorrow, so assuming all goes well I should be able to comment on what the game is like tomorrow evening ;)

(I didn't just get the RAM for the game, I've been meaning to get some more RAM for quite some time and this was the final straw, so to speak.)

Game freezes up for me every 15 minutes. It's not a bad game but a lot of the same.

Note: Some OS's only allow for a mazimum of 2Gb and the game requires 2Gb, so will instantly fail once it has loaded all data.
Upgrade to a 64bit OS.

Secondly, you could try (in CMD) [before playing]
"bcdedit /set increaseUserVa 3072" & then restart PC

and [after playing]
"bcdedit /deletevalue IncreaseUserVa" & then restart PC

This issue sounds like there could be a memory leak in the game to be honest. Coincidence that 3 people posted here with pretty much same issue :?:
The APB forum report a requirement of a minimum 4Gb Ram. Remember the game is beta, so 'specs' are unofficial and also, the game has a 'custom' logo design feature, so many people, using many decals equals many Gbs of memory required.

It is a taxing game, but there are certainly no 'game related' leaks, although it could be conflicting with something else.

same out of memory issue here aswell, just before i get it all textures start to look really blurry. No wait, scratch that. They start to look even blurrier(on players and cars).

Topic moved.

Got my extra 1GB (2GB technically but Vista 32-bit only recognises 3GB total) today. Game loaded fine and played it for a while, then after a while it crashed with the same out of memory bug as BeZZo posted.

I'll try Drofder's solution tomorrow (where do you enter those commands, Drofder?) and report back. Other than that I'm going to have to wait until I properly upgrade my PC (motherboard, processor, OS, maybe some more RAM while I'm at it) to play this game.
