New to Strafe Jumping

Post by Super Mario! » August 15th, 2005, 12:25 am

And i just can't get the hang of it :( I practiced for an hour and a half and I am getting no where. Do i need to be more patient than that? or should my strafe jumps be taking me further than normal jumps by now? My technique is the one in the tutorial,

i run to the edge like so: Image

then strafe right (D), jump, and move my mouse swiftly to the right at the same time. I go pretty straight usually but it just goes as far as a normal jump? am i doing anything wrong?

i disagree, those are very difficult jumps, if you would like mario, i would be glad to teach you... my xfire is murphy001 and im known for teachin a few how to strafe jump.. tbh a good map to learn is railyard ^^ just hit me up and ill show you and critique you.. themost important thing is the mouse... it needs to be in an arc up and to the right for the jump you are doing, but i will help with that :P

Sounds great. I've been practicing jumping from the landing onto the stairs in railyard, I'll add you.

btw, i only run about 50fps (would a driver update fix that? i think i need one) would that effect it at all?

All I can say is... ouch :/

You are running a built-in Gfx Card. You do not need to update your drivers, you need to update your Gfx card.
You are not going to be able to tweak your system at all with that gfx card :(

If you are able to update, post your motherboard details or give details on where you bought PC.

(Also, do you have a prebuilt Dell?)

I believe you have to consult dell to be able to upgrade :(

Motherboard details will be in the manual provided by dell.

Is this your pc?

And how long ago did you buy it? If you still have warranty then you cannot upgrade without permission (or you will lose the warranty). you may have to contact dell for advice... dell sucks :?
