World Cup discussion topic

Post by Pedsdude » June 11th, 2010, 3:00 am

... and so it begins in just over 12 hours time!

Predictions?

I've got £5 each on Spain, Argentina and Brazil, and I reckon Spain will win. I would like to think England will win, but I would be very surprised if we do :(

A friend of mine (who's a massive football fan) is going to the following games:
Holland v Denmark
England v Algeria
South Korea v Nigeria
The winner of Brazils’ group v second in Spain’s group
The winner of Argentina’s group v Second in France’s Group

Then don't read the topic, this cleary isn't a "Do you like football?" discussion thread. RTFT (hint: second T = title).

I don't think Argentina will win this, but I hope they do. Really hoping that Australia does well, considering last world cup.

I'm hoping for a final Netherlands - Germany.

But without hopes, I think Germany will take the cup with their solidness.

In actual discussion, Sagna almost broke his leg, that looked really dangerous.

henry's shot at the end was disappointingly bad, with disregard to the country, he should have done much much better.

Bring on tomorrow - unfortunately I'm playing cricket so I may miss a portion of it, probably the first half, but I will do my best to get done quickly for it :D

I was gutted about the lack of any care in the French team, had £10 on them to win the match :(

Topic cleaned >.>

Argentina are fielding a bodge defense, but their attack is strong. I doubt they will win it.
Germany without Ballack.
Brazil without Ronaldinho.
England without... hope :/

Spain are my "favourites" to win as much as it makes me sick to say it.

Who cares about Germany without Ballack or Brazil without Ronaldinho. None of those countries really relies on those players.
Btw, England was properly bad today.

Ofcourse they do not rely on them, but they ARE key players.
As for England, as a team, we didn't play too bad, I personally felt we had the game in our control, but in true England fassion we cannot put the ball in the net and as usual our keeper is always there to fuck things up for us.

Those players are a symbol and therefor good for the team spirit. Gonna watch the germany match today with some friends - though I am not that really into soccer like Soviet is into bestiality.
