Re: Upheaval highest roof owned :D
Well, I don't know that much about hardware but I would definitely get a 260GTX or better, and a quadcore CPU.
With 700-800$ you can get something pretty good.

Do you already have a psu, case, and motherboard? if so, I think that would be a good pc.zxBludShedxz wrote:how well would this pc specs perform,

Re: Upheaval highest roof owned :D
Ok, since you don't seem to know what your most important piece of hardware is (motherboard), I'll keep this simple:
PSU (Power Supply Unit)
The PSU is basically what powers all of the components within your computer, such as your processer and your graphics card. The more powerful your components are, the higher wattage of PSU you'll need.
Case
A case is essential to actually keep your computer together, and furthermore, protect it from dust, grime and such. It is also used to cool your computer. What you need to look in a case is:
A motherboard is basically the boss of the computer. It is what all of your other main components will slot into, such as your graphics card, etc. Your case will also determine the size of your motherboard, if it is too small then you will not be able to fit in a larger motherboard. It also decides which socket you use for your processer, how many PCI-e slots you have, etc.
Remember, this is a very basic oversight of the three components you mentioned in your post, don't hesitate if you want ot know more.
Edit:
I just felt like commenting on the specs you listed earlier, so I did.

- Space - The bigger your components are, the bigger the case will have to be.
- Fans - Depending on how powerful and ineffecient your components are, you many need quite a few fans to keep them cool, especially if it is a gaming computer.
- Easy to take apart - This wil be helpful when you need to clean out the fans and the dust that will eventually land on your components within the computer.

quad processor 2.66ghz 1066fbs 3 mb cache
Quad Core's aren't the best for gaming due to the fact that most games haven't been optimised for them yet, and since you pay a higher price for less when buying a Quad Core, I would suggest you get a Core 2 Duo, specifically this one: http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Componen ... ctId=30244
Also, the 1066 FSB is decent, but the 3mb cache isn't the best, I recommend atleast 6mb.
4gb ram
4 GB of RAM is always decent, although you may not need to go that high unless your using a 64bit Operating System as 32bit ones do not notice more than 3.33GB. Also try and get RAM with the same speed as your motherboard, as it will work best at that level. e.g 1066MHz.
500gb hard drive
500 GB is ok, although what really matters in a Hard drive tbh is the RPM, which detemines how fast the files are recieved and located when in use. a RPM of 5400 is standard, although 7600 is alot better and 10000 starts to get pricey.
nVidia GeForce 9800GT
9800GT is a nice card, although it is getting on a bit and I doubt it would last more than a year intill you felt you need another one. And seeing how your spending quite a bit on the other components, why not get a http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Componen ... ctId=34366, which is an amazing card, which will easily last 2+ years.

Thank you alot for this, it's helping me alot
the computer im looking at is a studio desktop,
when you say a new case for more space, does that mean taking apart all my components and rebuilding them in a new case??? do you recomend any cases??? for the studio desktop do you recomend and psu or motherboard??

Re: Upheaval highest roof owned :D
Aha, if your looking to use the computer for movie editing, music creation, media related things then a Quad Core is suitable.
Also, I recommended that you look for a bigger case if you haven't got one already, that's all.
Also, here are some suggestions for components:
Core 2 Quad Q9400 2.66GHz
Thermaltake TR2 RX W0146 450W Modular PSU
Motherboard will take a bit longer to find, I recommend you try and find one, as you know what you need.

Re: Upheaval highest roof owned :D
I agree with everything Xylozi said, except the quadcore.
Although most games now don't support it, future games will do, and it will save having to upgrade in the next few years

Re: Upheaval highest roof owned :D
ok but when i buy a gaming case, do i have to build the computer myself??? like take all the parts out of my old pc and build them in the new case??
Re: Upheaval highest roof owned :D
Well, unless you have somebody else to do it for you, yes you will have to make it yourself in the new case.
Also Pres, I know games will start to be optimised for Quads, but by then Octo cores will be out. :O

Re: Upheaval highest roof owned :D
You can probably get a shop or someone to do it, but I doubt they will for freezxBludShedxz wrote:ok but when i buy a gaming case, do i have to build the computer myself???
