EDIT: This is a must have. I got kinda bored of FEAR always being indoors, not much variety. But this city zone is awesome, lots of detail, you can destroy shitloads of places. You can open doors of cars to take cover. Even more and good guns. Additional information you can read (Which I love about games, lore).

The launch trailer looks pretty sweet

I wasn't really interested before, but the story has me intrigued now. Do you think I would have to play all the expansions to understand what is going on?

Yeh you do Soviet.

You can buy the games fairly cheap now. 1 game + 2 expansions come to around 40 euros I guess. It's still awesome, even for its time, graphics are good too. But obviously not as good as Crysis

The NPC moving animations are kinda sloppy though, specialy in the expansion Perseus Mandate but that's something not worth mentioning.

Great story. Tricky to understand it though. Need to pay close attention if you want to understand the storyline.

Apparently FEAR 2 continues after FEAR 1 after the explosion as you can see in the trailer.

What I didn't like about FEAR was the change of environments, felt the same lots of times. But that's just my opinion.

There was an explosion at the end of the first FEAR. Does that mean that you don't need to play the expansions or that there will be another explosion later on?

The first expansion takes place when FEAR ends. So You kinda need that (I haven't got that expansion yet, wasn't in the shop). The second expansion is a stand-alone expansion pack. Follows a FEAR Sergeant somewhat during the middle of FEAR and continues after the explosion.

You will need the first expansion pack. The second one too.

Actually, according to a release trailer you won't. I just saw it yesterday, but a dev commentary stated that this game will pick up with you following somebody right after the explosion at the end of fear.

Well, it's not a lot of money. Just buy it tbh. Or borrow it from a friend, or whatever.

I do believe that once you play FEAR 2 and play FEAR 1 afterwards you might not like part 1 that much. When I played the demo I've seen loads of improvements. Still, it's a demo, but a damn good-looking demo.

i played the game 2 hours and its great

but some things are shit:

you must use 16:9 res or u have black bars on the upper and lower side of the screen
you cant change many key binds to the mousebuttons ( i use the right mouse button to go forward allways)

my rating:

grafic - good
sound - very good
gameplay - good
shocking moments - indescribable great

(in one scene i was so terrified that i need a cigarette break

)

buy and enjoy it

How about the scenery, does it change often ?

And FEAR1 wasn't even scary, how is that with FEAR 2 ?

Sound has always been the strongest point of this game.

fear 1 had some shocking moments (for me)

the scenery: cant say so much about it, i played it until the bomb exploded and one level/part further. all in a house until i stopped playing.
