FPS Drop in mid air.

Post by rHuk » June 21st, 2008, 11:05 am

Ok so i've never jumped before on COD2 but used to do it all the time on COD. So i thought i would give it a go on COD2. But everytime i strafe it kind of crashed and i get an FPS drop then it goes right back up.

Why is it doing this? Its not as if i dont have good enough graphics card because ive got 2 8800GTX in Sli. It doesnt happen on COD4 only COD2.

Could somebody please advise me on how i may correct this problem?

Minimise graphics and see if problems continues...
Run the game in SLI (or out of SLI depending on current options).

It could be many many things... maybe not even gfx related...

Ok i have sussed the problem with the FPS dropping in mid air. It was my keyboard. Yes weird i know.

But i have another problem. For some reason on COD2 i can't get constant 125 FPS.

Why is this? Surely 2 8800GTX should be able to get constant 125.

I look around i get constant 125 but as soon as i start walking it drops to like 80.

Any suggestions?

Use dx7 perhaps? and r_multigpu 1 worked fine for me.

I got that too in cod1, when i walk normal I get 500 fps. But when it starts getting a bit crowded my fps drops to 10 or below. Ive heard it has to do with new graphics cards, that theyre not optimised for older games like cod1. But that doesnt make sense here because cod2 isnt really an old game.

Ive managed to solve it. It was xfire 64.

i went to ocforums and he said delete the xfire64.exe file if im running 64 bit and that will fix my problem.

And guess what it did.
