Verticies, Snap To Grid?

Post by oppdelta » September 27th, 2007, 10:09 am

Hi when i bend a patch, to make a road for example, quite a lot of vertices arn't on the grid even when i go to grid 1 zoom in. They would be in the middle of the sqaure or near the edge but just doesnt touch the line.

Free movment thing not good, but ive seen somone apparently snapping the verticies to the grid. Any suggestions?

Well, thats normal, the only way to allign them is to turn off snap to grid and drag them, if you want it to make a tight fit to another patch, select 2 veriticies and press ctrl + k, then they will snap together

Method I use...

Create your bend using a patch to get a nice smooth bend.
Now create a terrain mesh on top, and manually move the terrain to fit the patch as close as possible.
Delete the patch.

Joining patches and terrain nicely is pretty much impossible, if things are not snapped together, the engine starts to draw shadows in bad places.
