What ISP do you guys have? (UK only)

Post by Luke » February 2nd, 2006, 5:43 pm

I'm currently on pipex and its £28 a month for 2mb connection, 15gb a month bandwidth limit, and has 50mb webspace.
I've been thinking of going for a cheaper isp, with like 1mb dl, and at least 10+gb bandwidth, so maybe someone can recommend a good one.

I've had a search and the best i can find so far is freenetname http://www.freenetname.co.uk/services/b ... x_plus.asp it appears to have some good features at a good price.

Zen ADSL - 1mbit Uncapped - Static IP - 1gb webspace

http://www.zenadsl.com/

£25.52/month Definately one of the more expensive ISP's out there, but you get what you pay for. Seriously never had any downtime/lag/contention problems related to them in the 3 years i've been using them :)

I like the look of this one, from what i can see you can get 8 static ip's for free, and being on a router thats a good thing.
Also free migration, so you can switch between isp's smoothly...I don't see anything about webspace, but if you get 1gb then thats a good bonus, shit i only get 50mb on pipex.
Oh and just 1 month minimum contract and free cancellation, unlike most places.

Most places say I can only get 1mb speed where i live, but i've been on 2mb with pipex for over a year :? ... anyway, 1mb with unlimited bandwidth would be ok.
But which ever i choose its gotta have free migration, otherwise its gonna cost and take ages to switch over :(

I've been on 512k for ages now, would really like to upgrade to a better connection. It was upgraded to 2MB for free for a few weeks but then it went back to normal :(

More and more are offering unlimited now, but they have these limits to make it cheap, i guess its ok if u don't use much bandwidth.
Most i've used in a month was around 15gb and top speed has been around 240 kb/s, but thats only from fast download servers.

just an update...pipex changed a few things now and its cheaper, i'm changing to pipex go, which is still 2mb but ulimited bandwidth for 23.99, but we got it with talk 3000 so u get 3000 minutes of free calls a month, and thats usually 4.99 alone, but with pipex go u get both for 25...so basically i'm paying 20 a month for 2mb unlimited now :)
I told them i'd only stay if they changed it without charging the £60 regrade fee, which they agreed as long as we stay with them for 12 months. Good deal i'd say
