OMG HELP ME!! plz..
Ok I fucked up big time, when you go to download the demos I thought you had to open them up with Windows Media Player. When I selected Windows Media Player to open my demo it said Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file. Now everytime I try to open a demo it goes to that screen and wont let me choose to open it up with diff program, wtf do I do? Plz help. Ty.

You do not use any program to open it, do not double click the dm_2 files. simply put the file in the demos directory. Read this whole sticky and you should understand.Jinglebells wrote:Ok I fucked up big time, when you go to download the demos I thought you had to open them up with Windows Media Player. Demos : All you need to know!
If you want to stop windows media player from opening the file, then you need to a registry edit. I'm not going to post how as I have not tested it fully (although im sure it would work) and I am not going to be held responsible for screw ups

No more opening demos...!

Heres a quick breakdown to stop you needing to

1. Put demo in Demos directory (default: c:/program files/call of duty/main/demos)
2. Open CoDMP.exe
3. Bring down console (` or ~)
4. Type /demo <demoname> (where <demoname> is the name of the demo WITHOUT the .dm_2 extension)

k, I found a way to stop windows oepning it, without reg editing.
Follow instructions Carefully!
- Open "My Computer".
- Not Click the "Tools" tab at the top.
- Then select "Folder Options"
- Then Click the "File Types" tab.
- Scroll down the list and look for dm_2
- Then Click delete.
Do that and re-download a file, do NOT click open (unless you have Seismovision installed).
