Call of Duty Steam Sales

Post by [SoE]_Zaitsev » September 2nd, 2011, 1:13 pm

All 50% off.

Now's the time to buy the older games if you missed out on them or if your CDs are gone (I'm currently downloading CoD4 again through Steam, can't find my CoD4 CD).

Also the MW2 map packs are on sale with 50% discount. Still wouldn't buy it (And do people still play those games?) but I guess if you wanted to mess around on those maps but thought it was too expensive, now is the perfect oppurtunity.

Never bought off of Steam.
Stupid question, but if you'd buy cod4 there, you'd get a cod4 key right?
Can never know with Steam..

Yep. And you can't lose it either. Add on top of that, you can't lose your CoD4 copy either! If you de-install it you just have to download it again through Steam, install it and continue with your same profile. Every profile gets saved in Steam. Even if you do a complete harddrive wipe you keep all the info. I'm not 100% sure on that but from past experiences all my save data is stored in my Steam account.

I hated Steam but now i love it and recommend it to everybody. I have Cod4 on Disc but may get it on Steam aswell. If youn have to reinstall your OS for some reason Steam download every game without swapping discs all over. And its fukin annoying to search my Cod4 Retail and retype the Key over and over

Like I said, you won't lose your CD key ever because every time you log in, you get the CD key pop-up message.

Anyway, I'm only buying my games through Steam nowadays. The % deals every so often is just too awesome to ignore.

The only reason I like steam is because it's cheaper. It wastes too much memory and CPU power. With CoD2, I downloaded it from steam, got the key code, downloaded CoD2 again from the internet, installed it with the key code, and can now play without steam. I could probably copy the files from the steam folder to the Activision one, but didn't try :P

KillerSam wrote:Steam is generally more expensive imo, and you have to download it yourself. It seems weird that content is heading towards high bandwidth stuff whilst ISP providers are moving in the complete opposite direction (e.g most "fair user policies" in the UK now have restrictions of like 10-15gb bandwidth per month on new contracts).
When I purchased CoD2, I definitely remember it being cheaper on steam, but I don't know about others. Also, I don't really know about the UK's policies for internet usage, but at the moment the restrictions aren't as bad as I'm on 120GB per month :)

Pretty sure restrictive bandwidth in the US is almost non-existent. Considering Steam is based in the US, it would make sense that they are ignoring those absurd restrictions.

I love Steam, but internet speed + the size of games increasing = buy from shop.

No money is saved through steam, but you do get the odd little extra (although, I get that too with Game sometimes).

And no TF2 stuff! :'(
