Long . Basing on what they let us see already in the trailers, it looks like a finished game :P

That's the difference between Valve and other developers (besides Blizzard), you have to wait 5 times longer to actually get the game, but once you do it is 5 times better. It is typically worth the wait in my opinion. (L4D2 = exception to rule)

I was going to whine about that, but to be honest Portal 2 just looks too amazing.

Canceled.

It does look amazing but Portal is basically a side project of Valve's, their main game is/was Half-Life so I don't see why they're putting more effort into these other games when they could be expanding the HL universe further(I know Portal does technically expand the universe aswell since it's in the same universe but c'mon, wouldn't you rather play more adventures of Gordon Freeman than a nobody from Portal?).

Yeah, I agree, but I think Valve is having trouble with Ep3. The truth is that everyone expects so much of them now with the last episode that it will be incredibly hard to deliver. Their big problem is they hinted too much at where it was going, thinking they could still take it in another direction. Now they've been forced down the arctic path by their fans and if they deviate from that at all they'll get completely lambasted. The story idea they created for Episode 3 always seemed much too big for an episodic length game to me. I was always under the impression that they planned to deviate off course with Ep3, then base HL3 around the arctic. It was bad foresight by Valve in not predicting what their fans would expect, and now they don't know what to do.

Probably, so their only solution is to distract the public with awesome games that aren't Half-File 3. Which is good and bad at the same time.

6 Actually.

Rez, you can probably expect to see HL2: Ep3 released in Fall 2011, no need to complain though, I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

It's not the wait I'm complaining about, it's the fact they got sidetracked by other games. It will definitely be worth it tho.
