While hacking the PS3, are you able to access the PS3 directories?

For example, PC users install in "%Local%/%Program Files%/%Game%/"

If you can access the correct directories, I may be able to get the CJ mod working.

Nope, sadly not

However I looked through a list of cvars for cod4 and found these two:

fs_homepath “E:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare”
fs_basepath “E:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare”

These might work on ps3, but what could I do with it?

And just to give u a little information about the hack

We transfer save data from the ps3 to computer (memory stick works fine), edit it, and transfer back. This however, was patched a long time ago, only recently has a way been found to bypass the patch update (deleting the patch first ofc, means playing without patch therefore cannot go public and you can only play with others without the patch). So basically, in this savedata is a file containing some code for multiplayer. We just add some cvars to this and voila, cod4 is hacked.

Hope that helped? I might have a copy of the default, un-modded file from the savedata if you want. Just ask ;)

Sadly, without access to the directories, installing a mod would be impossible. Mods need to be placed somewhere.
Can you install the game tot he computer like on Xbox?

what we do on ps3, is put the hacks and commands in the GRADO_MP(multiplayer) file thats in the savedata, and then we put the savedata on a usbdrive, then copy it to our ps3s, so do u think we could put a mod, or like a map(codjumper training map!) in the savedata folder and somehow get it to load the map? cus we could bind "devmap mp_codjumpertraning" to a button and try to load it, but idk do u have any idea if it would work or how 2 get it to work?

and im pretty sure the ps3 directories are just like the psp, so :>PS3>Savedata>BLUS30072-AUTO- is where the GRADO_MP file that we edit is

Taco, taco, taco...
It's, of course, not THAt easy, y'know?
You'd have to know the exact directory the actual CoD4 DATA is saved in the PS3s HD. Which would be sitting right next to impossible, because Windows isn't capable of reading the PS3's HD.
If you were, however, able to read it, adding or deleting a file off of it (via your PC) would most likely cause it to be un-readable when you put the HD back into your PS3.
But, there may be one alternative... upgrade your PS3's harddrive to one that is cabable of being read/written via your PC, and adding a mod SHOULD be no problem. :)

The game is made in such a way that certain files need certain positioning. To get a mod loaded, you would need to know the directory layout of the PS3 games.

For example, we place mods in a folder under CoD called "Mods" and then in there a second folder with the mod name.
Without that, you are stuck to simple commands.

Hey Chaaos,

Number one, GJ figuring out how to downgrade the savedata. roxzor_of_sorts discussed it, and were gunna try it, but never got around to it.

Second, if you can tell me how you actually did this, I might be able to help with some things. Since I have a little knowledge about working with the PC version of CoD4 (with the help from other roxzor who knows a lot more than I do :P ), I might be able to get some things working that you talked about. I would just need to actually get my hands on it, and since I have a PS3 and roxzor has a PC running CoD4, there are certain things that we could probably do. Now, I highly doubt we'll be running custom maps, and I'm positive the CoDJumper mod isn't gunna happen, but I might be able to get some other things working that will be useful.

If you want to disclose this information, you can just PM me with instructions, or PM me for my email address.
that's a nice pic and all, but out of all the pictures you could have taken why'd you take a picture of a plant? :P

Because plants have some really small details. If a plant comes out nice in a photo, you have yourself a good camera ;)
-Drofder 2004
Yes, but if boobs come out really well in a photo you have a picture of boobs

Discussing Marshall's new camera lol^
